Welcome to Dreamland. You play the role of Marcellus Faust, a strange old man, who happens to be wandering around in this mysterious amusement park, Dreamland. Dreamland used to have a golden age in the past but because of many disappearances happen inside, it becomes deserted. The owner of the park, Theodore Moore, closed this park for good before he passed away.

The park is divided into seven different regions which hold the secret of this park. These regions are Love Island, The Great Inventor, Visit Us, The Enchanted Island, Great Attractions!, Bootlegging and The Bath of Giselle. Seven episodes, seven deadly sins, seven evidences and seven souls to save ........

Mephistopheles and 'The Boss' challenged Faust to discover the past, his real identity and to help them judging the lost souls. But beware.... if you play with fire you'll get burn ......

This hint is my latest creation in 1999. Faust is the game that could take your breath away. The gorgeous graphics combined with lots of clever puzzles will make you sit for hours to solve this game. I've divided this hint according to the number of episodes within. One thing to remember while you're playing this game: always recheck everything even though you've checked it before. Everything could change during your investigation. One action could trigger different results in the same place....

Now for the game....

Special Note by Robert Gault on installation:
The game installs quite easily but on the latest systems may not run correctly. The current audio cards are much too fast for the game to handle. It is necessary to reduce hardware acceleration to the lowest level of DirectX support (Basic) using either DXDiag or the Multimedia program found in Control Panel.

The game, installed in the normal fashion, will require swapping of CDs and may cause problems with some CD-ROM drives. However, it can be installed so that it runs exclusively from your hard drive. Here is my procedure for full hard drive installation:

  1. Select a directory to place the game, ex. D:\Games\7.
  2. Copy from each CD (1-4) the Data directory and paste it into the directory chosen in step (1). Don't worry if some files are duplicates just say Copy All.
  3. Now run the installation program Setup on CD #1. If it says that the game is already installed in your selected directory, don't worry but continue with the installation. This step will ensure that any files, copied as Read Only, will be made writable.
  4. Now open the file fl.ini which was installed in your chosen directory. Note the line starting CDPATH: and change it's contents to match your chosen directory. Then change the entry CHECKCD: so the value is 0. Save the modified fl.ini.
  5. You will find that every time you start playing the game you will see the initial start sequence. You can skip it using the ESC key but if that becomes too annoying, the sequence can be prevented from running by renaming two files in data/sy/pla/eng. The last directory depends on the language in use on your computer. Change the file names E00M1.Cl2 and E00M2.Cl2 to something else.
