Escape From Monkey Island - Complete Walkthrough

STAR GUIDE

All Tied up

Move round the post so you can kick the stand with the hot coals down
Pick up a piece of coal, move quicly round the pole and kick it at the cannon on the right to sink the other ship

Arriving on Melee Island

After the cut-scene, head to the Scumm Bar
Look at the baloon on the drunken mans table in the far right hand corner
Talk to the dart players. Bet them they can't hit something on the first shot
Keep suggesting targets until you can make them hit the baloon
Go over to the drunk man and pick up his pretzels
Head to the Harbour and pick up the burst innertube
Head to the mansion and towards the cactus on the right side of the mansion
Use the innertube with the cactus
Go talk to the catapult firer and offer him some pretzels
Whilst he's away, Tinker with the catapults controls
The Catapult is destroyed. Talk to Elaine to find out what to do next

The Island Hopping Deal

Go to the Scumm Bar and talk to Ignatious Cheese
Ask him about his big arms, then ask him to join your crew and tell him the truth
Challenge him to insult arm wrestling, and if you beat him (not hard) he joins the crew
Talk to Otis & Carla (out on the street) and offer them 'Cushy Government Jobs'
Head to the mansion and pick up the job forms on the table
Get Elaine to sign them
Go give them to Carla & Otis for two more crew members
Go to the Harbour & talk to the Harbour mistress
Go to the Mansion and talk to Elaine until you get the Melee Island stamp thingy
Go back to the Harbour and show the stamp to the Harbour Mistress for a 'lovely' ship
Set sail for Lucre Island!!

A 'Lucrative' Island

Go to the Lawyers office and you learn Elaines Grandpa has left an inheritance for Elaine
Go to the bank and talk to the assistant to get taken inside the vault
Pegnose Pete shows up and you end up trapped inside the vault
Look inside Grandpa Marleys safety deposit box to find a bottle of fine grog and a music box
Pick up th Hankerchief Pegnose dropped, and pick up the three sponges and the sword
Use the sword on the doors top latch, then jam all 3 sponges into the crack
Use the grog on the sponges and the door bursts open
You get placed under house-arrest (which means you cannot leave the island until you clear your name)

Got your nose!

Head to the bank and use the sword (now broken) on the manhole cover. You lose the sword.
Look at the manhole cover and read the love note. Remember it
Head to the palace of prosthetics and ask Deadeye Dave for a free gift.
Say the names you remembered from the manhole cover and you get a prosthetic skin
Use the skin with the manhole outside the bank, and use the 'trampoline' to bounce inside
Climb down the ladder and turn on the lights by pulling the cord
Climb back up and examine the shadow and the light to the left to find a prosthetic nose

Eau de Pegnose

Go to the Perfume stand and pick up an empty spritzer bottle
Enter the bait shop and get some free bait
Use the spritzer in the free bait tank to get some free bait water
Go to the House of Sticks and pick up the wood shavings
Head to the swamp and use the spritzer in the puddle to get some swamp water
Head to Ozzies House and pick up the flower
Add the flower, the wood shavings and the free bait to the spritzer to get a Pegnose Pete Perfume (Alliterative)

Capturing Pegnose

Pick up the chicken grease from the prison
Pick up duck from outside the bait shop
Go to the Palace of Prosthetics and spray the Pegnose Pete perfume at Dave (see 'Eau de Pegnose')
Dave gives you a name. This is the name Pegnose uses when he buys prosthetics
You need to look up that name on the filing system to find out where Pegnose lives
Take Pegnose Pete's alias and note down the initials
The rabbit is A-D, The palm tree is E-H, The monkey is I-M, The is Jack-O-Lanten is N-S, and the bananas are T-Z
There are always 3 initials, so enter the first in the first block, the second in the second block etc.
Now you have the directions to Petes house
Head down the steps and follow the dock left and you encounter two chess players
Talk to the fat one to learn the skinny one fancies Brittany, then try to distract him
Talk to the skinny one and distract him by pretending Briitany is near
'Borrow' the chess clock
Go to the swamp and place the clock on the raft.
Navigate by looking at the time, then looking at the directions. You are told which way to go by what time it is
You will then meet another Guybrush who gives you stuff. Remember the order he gives you it in.
Now you ask him whay number you are thinking. Note down his answer.
Unlock the gate with the key Guybrush gave you, and continue navigating
You'll eventually reach the Guybrush meets Guybrush scene, but this time you are talking to past Guybrush
Give him things in the right order and answer his number question correctly, then continue navigating
When you reach his house, watch the cut-scene and then smear chicken grease on his 'Welcome' mat.
Put the duck through the window, and watch the result. One No-nosed pirate in the bag.

'Priceless' Hierlooms

Go to the Perfume stand and pick up some cologne (Eau de Lechuck)
Go to the Palace of Prosthesis and place the music box on the counter, so Dave can't hear what you're about to do
Pick up the wooden hand from the basket before the music stops
Pick up the scupperware container from inside the bank (To get inside see 'Got your Nose')
Next stop is to find the treasure, then your name is cleared
Next head to Ozzies house and use the Eau de Lechuck on the kangaroo. Ozzie snaps his cane
Go to the bait shop and use the wooden hand on the termites
Now head to the House of Sticks. You'll see Ozzies cane. Use the termite-hand on it
Back at Ozzies house, tell him you know wherethe treasure is and he'll go check for it. Follow the trail of sawdust
Root around for the hidden passage, and push the button when you are inside
Get out and dive in the deep water
Use the scupperware container with the glowing fish, and find the cave
Pick up the 'treasure' and you also find a screw
Give the treasure and the screw to the Inspector, and you are free to leave!

Back to the Wife

Go to the Governors mansion and watch the cut-scene
Go to the Voodoo Ladys hut, and pull the index finger on the giant hand
Talk about the family hierlooms, and she'll cast spells, revealing some earings, a pen and a necklace
The fourth hierloom isn't in the chest, but the Voodoo Lady says it is somewhere on Melee Islands
Go to the Harbour and examine the coin return slot on the grog machine
Pick up the quarter inside and try to buy a grog
After Kicking, Punching an Yelling at the machine a LOT of grog falls out. Take a can
Now go to Meathooks and pick up the paintbrush
Go to the Scumm Bar to find it is now the Lua Bar
Sit down and order something cooked. Notice the wax painting.
A flaming boat will sail down the river
When the boat is under the painting, jam the paintbrush into the mechanism
When the cook comes out go to the kitchen quickly and use the grog on the boiler
The painting melts, and you can now take it
Go to the harbor and use the earrings, the necklace, the pen and the painting on the figurehead
She tells you where the Ultimate Insult can be found - Jambalya Island!
Elaine shows up to take her gubernatorial stamp thingy and then you can set sail!

Getting a Silver Monkey Head

There are two ways to win the ticket. Here are both

Method 1

Go to Stans and pick up the glue
Go to the town and enter the Micro-groggery
Use the glue on the mechanical manatee and ask the bartender if you can ride it
You win a ticket for a Silver Mega Monkey Meal at Planet Threepwood!

Method 2

Go to Starbuccaneers, and whilst oustside look at the empty cup through the window
Go inside and pick up the empty cup
Ask for a refill
Now go to Stans, drink the coffee and ask for the sales pitch
Thanks to the coffee, you stayed awake, winning a ticket!

Now, go get that head

If you ever run out of tickets, go through with both methods and you can then pick up tickets outside the Micro-Groggery
Now, go to Starbuccaneers and look at the tourists bag. Pick up the Starbuccaneers mug from inside
If you haven't already done so, go to Stans and pick up the glue
Go to Planet Threepwood and order a meal. Use your ticket for payment
When you are sat down with the mug, ask the Jolly Pirate for a caricature of you and your mug
Use the glue with the caricature, the use the caricature with the Starbucaneers mug\
Switch the two mugs and you now have the Silver Monkey head

Getting a Golden Statue

Go to Starbuccaneers and pick up a Schmear Whiz. Eat it and you spit out little chunks
Go to Stans and pick up a pamphlet
Go to the dock (where your ship is) and use the rowboat to row to Knuttin Atoll
Find the school and take part in the class
Say the worst, most horrible and disgusting answers to the questions and you get a dunce cap
Go back to Jambalya and go to the cliffs where the diving competition is being held
Talk to Marco de Pollo to learn you need a certficate to even contend with him
Go talk to the judges and ask for a cerificate
Show the certificate to Marco and dive against him
When you get low scores, talk to all threejudges to ask what you did wrong
Look at the pamphlet from Stans and show it to the grouchy-looking judge
Talk to the hippie judge to learn the moves for diving

Keelhaul: Up
Rum Barrel: Down
Alpha Monkey: Left
Spinning Swordsman: Right
Go back to where Marco is and use the chewed up Schmear Whiz in the bottle
Challenge Marco to a dive. Note down his moves
When you go to dive, wear the dunce cap and imitate all of Marco's moves
You draw with Marco. Now he has to copy you. He goes to use his lotion.
Wear the dunce cap again, only this time you make up the moves
When Marco copys you he'll fail because of the Schmear Whiz you put in his body lotion
You win the second part of the Ultimate Insult!

Getting a Bronze Hat

Go to the Micro-Groggery and get some Grog Jr
Go to Knuttin Atoll and go outside the school
Turn the fire alarm on, and when the teacher runs out quickly head inside and pick up the parrot whistle
Go to the beach and talk to Tiny Lafoot to find he has hidden the bronze hat under a rock
Tiny has one truth-telling parrot and one lieing parrot
Head right and blow the parrot whistle for the parrots to come
Give one of the parrots a Grog Jr and ask it what it is to find out if it is the truth-teller or the lier
You now know which parrot is which, because one is drunken and staggering and the other is normal
Keep asking the truth-telling parrot where the hat is until you find the right rock
Now go to the puppet stand and talk to the Lechuck puppet
Keep talking until the Guybrush puppet starts talking to you. Ask him to talk to the puppeteer
Stop talking to the puppeteer immediatly and show him the map with the Ultimate Insult instructions
He drops the puppets, so pick them up
Now go to the boulder with the hat buried undeneath it and use the puppets with it
You now have the hat, the statue and the monkey head. An Ultimate Insult!
You can now return to Melee Island and have your Ultimate Insult stolen from you. Nice.

Here's where the title comes in

After the alarming cut-scene you wash up on the shores of Monkey Island! Now you need to get off them
Go to the canyon and pick up th banan picker that is impaled in the cactus on the right
Go back to the beach you washed up on and use the banana picker a few times to pick the bananas
Give a banana to Timmy the Monkey and walk back to the canyon. He'll follow you.
Give Timmy another banana and he'll follow you inside the mine
Whilst inside, go to the far end and open the vent at the bottom
Put a banana in there and Timmy gets in, so shut the vent
Use a banana with the portal near the top and the door opens
Go inside the room and use the banana picker to get the weed whipper jammed in the gears
Leave and go to the church of Lechuck
Look above the door and you can see a skull head with two shields as eyes
Use the banana picker to retrieve these shields
Now have a talk with the ghost priest and ask him to ride the log flume
Whilst riding the log flume, get the banana picker ready and snatch the milk bottle by floating past it
Now go back to the map and hike up the vista point
Pick up a rock and throw it at the right canal. Pick up another rock, and as soon as you see a branch shake throw it in the middle canal. Pick up another, wait for another branch to shake and throw that in the left canal. Pick up one more, and when you see another branch shake throw this one in the left canal too. A rock should land in the lava near the church
Now go back to the church and ride the ride again, this time float around and turn left at the fork

Monkey Kombat!!

After you've parked your boat in the small pool, use the weed whipper with the weeds
Now, go to the village and talk to the talking monkey (Jojo) to learn about Monkey Kombat

I suggest you download this Word document and print it off to help you with Monkey Kombat.

You have to do Monkey Kombat by yourself, but for help in writing down moves there's a document above
Keep beating Monkeys until Guybrush says he is ready to face Jojo, then go beat him
After succesfully wiping the floor with Jojo, you recieve his bronze hat
In the village, give the shields to the Monkey playing the accordion
He drops the accordian for you to pick up
Now, go back to the place where you parked your boat and push the tree over
Go to the camp to meet an old friend, yup, Herman Toothrot
Pick up the coconut and throw it at Herman until he remembers what his name is and what island he's on
Now throw the milk bottle at him
Now throw the accordion at him to get the gubernatorial stamp thing (I won't say why he has it)
Go to the giant Monkey head (You need to cross the lava by walking over the tree)
Throw the bronze hat on the monkey head and stick the banana picker up its nose to open the mouth
Inside, Use the gubernatorial stamp in the slot (have a look around)
Watch the cut-scene

Who expected this?

You arrive on an island in the giant Monkey
Pick up the large plank and use it with the smallest tower
Climb the tower and jump onto the plank
Now you're at the top, pull the lever and watch the cut-scene

The Ultimate in Monkey Kombat!!

You are facing the giant stone pirate Lechuck in your giant Monkey in a game of Monkey Kombat
Simply change to the same stance as Lechuck three times and you've won!!
Sit back, and enjoy the ending whilst trying to figure out how Herman Toothrot was warped to Monkey Island yet in the first game we learn he sailed there with a shipmate..bla bla bla....
