0 Introduction

0.1 A WORD FROM THE AUTHOR

There are several walkthrus for Curse of the Monkey Island, but
none really covers the game the way I wanted to, so here's yet
another version. In this one, I give MULTIPLE LEVELS of hints, so
you don't feel spoiled. And just in case you need it, a full
walkthru.

There is full coverage of both regular monkey and mega-monkey
mode.

This is a just a strategy guide and FAQ. You won't learn how to
play the game with this document. That job is for the manual.

This USG only covers the PC version since that's the only version
that exists.

This primarily covers the single-player campaign, and some of the
historical missions.

Some of you may recognize my name as the editor for the XCOM and
XCOM2: TFTD FAQ's, among others.

If you like the guide, please send me $1.00 (one dollar) worth of
stamps (or 3 first-class stamps, as by this time the price would
have risen again). If you are not in the US, send me some local
stamps (used or new, doesn't matter). Address is in [0.2].

If you don't want to read the standard legalese, skip to [1.0]
now.

got it from gamefaqs.com.

Read that carefully. It says exactly what it says.

0.4 OTHER NOTES

There is no warranty for this unofficial strategy guide. After
all, it depends on YOU the player. All I can do is offer some
advice.

PLEASE let me know if there's a confusing or missing remark... If
you find a question about this game that is not covered in the
USG, e-mail it to me at the address specified later. I'll try to
answer it and include it in the next update.

The address below is spelled out phonetically so spammers can't
use spambots on it:

Kilo-Sierra-Charlie-Hotel-Alpha-November-Golf-Seven-Seven AT

To decipher this, simply read the first letter off each word
except for the numbers and the punctuation. This is "military
phonetics" or "aeronautical phonetics" in case you're wondering.

0.8 THE MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (EXPANDED)

Q: Can you send me The Curse of Monkey Island (or portions
thereof)?
A: You can't afford $5? (Which is how much I paid for it) Maybe
you shouldn't be playing.

Q: Can you send me the manual (or portions thereof)?
A: No. The jewelcase booklet is quite sufficient.

Q: Can you tell me how to play the game?
A: Read the manual (see above)

Q: Why is your FAQ shorter than other similar FAQs?
A: I don't include stuff that's already in the manual.

Q: Is your FAQ free?
A: Yes, it is free. However, donation of $1.00 is appreciated.
See end of [0.2].

Q: How many releases are there of The Curse of Monkey Island?
A: Just one.

Q: How many CDs are there?
A: Two CD's, each covering about half of the story

Q: What are the patches for "Curse"?
A: None.

Q: Where's a list of keyboard commands?
A: It's in the manual (that booklet in the front cover of the
jewelcase). The game is point-and-click any way... Except the
naval combat section.

Q: Are there difficulty levels?
A: Regular Monkey, and Mega-Monkey (more puzzles).

1 Game Information

1.1 WHAT IS THE CURSE OF MONKEY ISLAND?

The Curse of Monkey Island is the third game in the Monkey Island
franchise, documenting the (mis-) adventures of Guybrush
Threepwood, pirate-wannabe. This time, after escape from
LeChuck's clutches, he accidentally gave Elaine, his love, a
cursed ring, which turned her into a statue of gold... He must
turn Elaine back to normal, and deal with LeChuck...

This is one of LucasGame's point-and-click adventures, where you
basically go to each screen, figure out what objects on the
screen can be used in certain ways, and possibly combining them
to solve various puzzles, thus advancing the plot.

1.2 SIMILAR GAMES

You can try the rest of the games in the Monkey Island series.
There are four of them now .

1.3 PATCHES

There are no patches for this game.

1.4 DIFFICULTY LEVELS

There are two difficulty levels in this game, regular monkey, and
mega-monkey. The mega-monkey has more puzzles that are harder to
solve (requiring more parts and such) and will be discussed
separately.

1.5 SOME GAMEPLAY HINTS

Grab ANYTHING that is not nailed down. Basically, if it doesn't
say "I don't need it" or something similar, you will probably
need it. So grab it, and worry about it later. You don't have an
inventory limit any way.

If you don't grab the item, at least remember where it was, so
you would know how to go back and get it.

The game is FULL of hints, if you talk to the right people, and
check the right items. You can almost solve it via purely trial
and error, but what's the fun of that?

2 Regular Monkey Hint Guide

The regular monkey mode hint guide is divided into the six
chapters, and in each I'll give you enough hints for each puzzle
that comes along.

Prologue: Guybrush is in the ocean and floating along... and ran
into LeChuck attacking the fort... And he's taken onboard
LeChuck's ship...

2.1 PART 1: DEMISE OF LECHUCK

2.1.1 Gun Room

You are in this room with a cannon and various items, and a small
pirate. Clearly, your objective is to escape... So... How would
you get out of this room?

Q: What do I do now?
A: Try talking to the small pirate.

Q: What do I say?
A: Well, he's clearly no pirate...

Q: Okay, he dropped the hook. Now what?
A: Try the cannon...

Q: Okay, what do I hit?
A: How about those boatloads of undead pirates?

Q: Then what?
A: Try squeezing past the cannon.

Q: That didn't work. Now what?
A: See any floating items you want?

Q: How do I get those floating items? I can't reach them!
A: Go back into the room. See anything that looks long enough?

Q: That rampart won't grab hold of the item.
A: Perhaps you need to add something to that rampart...

Q: Can you be more specific about the rampart?
A: *Sigh* Use that plastic hook on the rampart to combine them.

Q: Okay, I got the item(s)... Now what?
A: Ever seen a cannon fire? Think about the recoil...

Q: Can you be more specific?
A: Perhaps you want to, uh... USE the recoil.

Q: Can you be REALLY specific?
A: *Sigh* Cut the anti-recoil rope.

Cutscene: Kaboom! LeChuck's ship goes belly up along with his
voodoo cannonball! However, you're going down WITH him...

2.1.2 Upside-down ship

You are in this upside-down treasure room with a lot of LeChuck's
junk. Explore the room a bit. There's a hole on the top, and a
glass porthole to the right, and junk all around.

Q: Now how do I get out?

A: It's not through the top, that's for sure...

Q: So how do I open the porthole?
A: You don't, but perhaps you can MAKE an opening...

Q: How about a hint?
A: Look for something to cut glass.

Q: Uh... more specific please?
A: A BIG diamond ring, near the "brown bag", which is near the
portrait.

Cutscene: Voila! You float through the hole on the top, and you
washed up onshore, right into Elaine's arms! You proposed to her
immediately and put the ring on her finger... Then Wally comes
by... mentioned the ring's curse... Before she can get the ring
off, she turns into a statue of solid gold!

2.2 PART 2: THE CURSE GETS WORSE

Cutscene: Guybrush is completely freaked out by now...

You are on Plunder Island. There are quite a few places to go, so
explore a bit. There's the beach you are on. Going left takes you
to the town of Puerto Pollo. Going right takes you to the swamp.

2.2.1 Beach

Feel free to explore the beach a bit. The fort cannot be reached
but you can go left (to Puerto Pollo) and right (into the jungle
and swamp). In fact, move left and access the overall island
map... And explore the island a bit.

Head into the swamp when you're ready...

2.2.2 Swamp

At the swamp, the skull will give you a fright. It's just Murray.
Go ahead and chat, then continue up into the ship...

Look around a bit. Notice items on the floor... Pin on paper
voodoo doll, a gum vending machine, and alligator's tongue.

Q: What do I do now?
A: Try pulling on alligator's tongue.

Q: Who's that?
A: You don't recognize her from the previous games? Just talk to
her any way.

You'll go off on various discussions, questions, and lots of back
and forth...

CUTSCENE: Ack! Someone has stolen Elaine (the statue!)

Q: Now what?
A: You ain't gonna find no crew or ship or map in the swamp, lad!

Q: So where do I go again?
A: *Sigh* Puerto Pollo. Head into town.

HINT: Before you go, get some of that chewing gum (you'll need to
use some of your wooden nickels), and the pin from the voodoo
doll.

2.2.3 Puerto Pollo

Puerto Pollo is a wide town... Left side is Lenny, then a passage
into the swamp to Danjer Cove (blocked), then Blondebeard's
Chicken place, then the town hall, then exit to Cabana, then at
the waterfront is the Pirate Barber shop.

Q: What now?
A: Feel free to explore the town a bit. Pay special attention to
the dressing room at the theater...

Q: How do I get into Blondebeard's place? I don't have
reservation!
A: You'll find one later... Just go elsewhere for now.

Q: How do I get into Cabana Club / Beach?
A: You'll find a way later.

2.2.4 Theater

Q: Uh, what's so special about the dressing room at the town
hall/theater?
A: 'Magic hat' and 'magic wand' together usually mean
something...

Q: So will something appear?
A: Indeed. Take it.

Hint: explore this room thoroughly. The trunk has a "Blood
Island" sticker on it! Head right and talk to Slappy Cromwell for
more clues... He'll tell you about his agent, Palido Domingo, on
the Brimstone beach at Cabana Club.

2.2.5 The Passage / Scissors Puzzle

Q: How do I get through that passage next to Blondebeard's place?
A: You'll need something to cut through.

Q: How do I get the scissors from the ceiling of the pirate
barber shop?
A: Get rid of the customer, Rene Rottingham, in the barber's
chair.

Q: Any suggestions?
A: Perhaps you need to introduce some thing no barber would want
to see...

Q: Uh, where can I find it?
A: Try that side door next to townhall...

Q: More specific?
A: Look on the Civil War jacket... It has... "dandruff" on it.

Q: And then?
A: The barber will drop the comb periodically... Try...
sabotaging the comb.

Q: He's gone. Now what?
A: Guess you need a haircut...

Q: Then what?
A: Care to guess what raises or lowers a barber's chair?

Q: More specific please?
A: Oh, come on... The handles off to chair's side!

Q: What about town hall "'Speare"?
A: Feel free to explore that a bit... Talk to Slappy Cromwell all
you want. He's your only clue to Blood Island so far. He'll tell
you to go see his agent, Palido Domingo, at the Cabana Club.
However, you don't have a pass "yet".

Q: Do the signs along the passage into the forest have
significance?
A: ALL the signs have SOME significance... Remember the
interesting ones.

2.2.6 Snake Crossing

You walk through and you come to this little knoll, with this
tree. There's a sign... As you try to read the sign...

Cutscene: Oops! You got eaten by this huge snake!

Q: Uh... How do I get out of this snake? I can't reach any of
those instruments!
A: What you need is INSIDE the snake, so pick up EVERYTHING
inside the snake, including Reservation slip, encyclopedia,
Faberge Egg, Syrup, etc.

Q: Now what?

A: Did you remember what those flowers/plants you cut do? Ipecac,
to be exact.

Q: Yes, but... how?
A: See anything you can combine that flower with?

Q: Uh, no?
A: Think breakfast... with pancakes.

Q: I got the spiked syrup... Now what?
A: Pour some on the snake (head).

Cutscene: Nice! The snake spat you out! Right into...

2.2.7 Quicksand!

Yep, you're now stuck in quicksand. You can't move. So, how would
get out of there?

Q: So how do I get out?
A: You need to access one of those vines.

Q: Uh, how?
A: You can't reach it, but perhaps something in your inventory
will...

Q: I dunno... Balloons?
A: You're getting warmer...

Q: Balloon... with paperweight?
A: Bingo! Now that balloon just floats!

Q: Now what?
A: BLOW on the balloon...

Q: Uh... how?
A: Click and HOLD on the item, which pops up the interact menu.
For the "floating balloon", one of them is "blow".

Q: So... that doesn't do anything!
A: Patience! Now you need to pop it.

Q: And how would I do that?
A: See some reeds and thorns near you?

Q: Wait... a blow gun?
A: Yep.

Head back into town. One of the items you recovered from the
snake should be a reservation slip. You can go do Blondebeard's
puzzle, or you can recruit the three pirates. It's up to you.

2.2.8 Recruiting Haggis

Q: So how do I beat Haggis in the caber toss?
A: Try exploring the grassy knoll a little...

Q: I still don't get it...
A: You can't beat Haggis in a pure test of strength, but perhaps
you can... rig the game.

Q: Wait... do you mean...
A: Who says you must use a "regular" tree trunk?

Q: Uh... How do I get this, uh... irregular tree trunk?
A: See any other trees nearby?

Q: So how do I, uh, cut it down?
A: Well, you, uh... Don't. However, there is this barrel of
rum...

Q: So?
A: Well, rum is high-proof alcohol, almost... explosive.

Q: How would I get barrel of rum to the tree?
A: Guess you'll... need to tip the thing over.

Q: How would I... tip it over?
A: Cut one of the legs. (Guess what would you use?)

Q: What would I use?
A: *Sigh* Serrated Knife

Q: Where would I get it?
A: From Blondebeard's Chicken n' Things (you may need to go do
that, and do this part later)

Q: Okay, now how do I... uh, light it?
A: There are some embers by the beach.

After that, go back and ask Haggis for a contest...

2.2.9 Recruiting Van Heldan

Q: How do I challenge Van Heldan?
A: He's the dapper guy, so you would... slap him with the glove.

Q: So what should I pick?
A: "The Unusual".

Q: Uh... what's unusual about the pistols?
A: Not the pistols... The BANJO!

Q: Uh... how do I win the game?
A: Follow those "single notes", write them down if you like, and
repeat them.

Q: He's doing some serious riffing now... What do I do?

A: Do the Indiana Jones solution... Remember?

Q: Uh, no?
A: The part where he just whips out a gun and shoots the other
guy?

Q: So I should shoot Van Heldan?
A: No, the BANJO!

Van Heldan is impressed at your pirate-like solution.

2.2.10 Recruiting Cutthroat Bill

Q: How do I recruit Bill?
A: You need to impress him by finding some treasure on this
island.

Q: But I've looked everywhere...
A: Except inside Blondebeard's and Club Cabana.

2.2.11 Blondebeard's Place

Q: Okay, where's that reservation slip?
A: In the snake. You did get it, right?

Q: What about the quiet guy?
A: Go ahead and push him

Q: Eeek!:
A: Get the knife from his back while you're at it. You'll need
it.

Q: Uh, what should I order?
A: Doesn't matter. Just talk to him a bit... When you can, ask
him about his gold tooth

Q: Okay... How do I get the gold tooth out of him?
A: See any... hard candy around?

Q: Uh, no?
A: There's one on the floor in the barbershop, a jawbreaker, in
fact. (Guess you'll need to go back and get it).

Q: Okay, he got the jawbreaker... The teeth's loose. Now what?
A: He did say something fleshy and chewy...

Q: I have no idea...
A: In the swamp, at the voodoo lady's place... What flavor is the
gum?

Q: Uh... steak?
A: Right-o!

Q: And I get this with...
A: Your wooden nickels.

Q: Okay, and he's blowing bubbles...
A: So pop the bubble...

Q: With?
A: *Sigh* You do have a PIN in your inventory, right?

Voila, the teeth is on the ground...

Q: Now what?
A: Take the tooth back to Bill and show him what you got...

2.2.12 Club Cabana

Q: The Cabana Boy won't let me in.
A: Guess you'll have to locate a membership card.

Q: Wait, didn't Blondebeard said something?
A: Yep, go back and talk to him, he'll tell you he lost a card
with his... chickens.

Q: Is that the card I see...
A: Yep, in the chicken bones on the table with the... skeleton
fellow.

NOTE: That guy is from Grim Fandago, another LucasArts game.

Q: So how do I get rid of the cabana boy?
A: This guy needs a whipping...

Q: I don't get it...
A: Locker room pranks... wet towel whips.

Q: Oh, I see...
A: Yep, that bucket of water... and those towels...

Q: Okay... I got there... But I can't cross the hot sand!
A: Well, guess you'll need to, uh... pave a road.

Q: Okay, how DO I get Palido Domingo to turn over so I can see
the map?
A: Well, sunbathers do NOT want to get burned, so guess you'll
have to convince him he's burned...

Q: How would I do that?
A: Well, you can't yet. Grab his mug and go through the gate back
into town for now. Head to Lenny's Lemonade place.

2.2.13 Lenny's Lemondade

Go ahead and buy a lemonade... Bottomless mug policy, heh?

Q: So how do I beat Lenny at this game?
A: You do have another mug, right?

Q: Oh, I see!
A: Yep, swap his mug so he can't cheat you any more.

Lenny runs off when he realized he can't cheat you any more...
Leaving an empty pitcher.

Wait, is that some red dye I see just off to my right?

Q: Is that important?
A: Well, you're trying to convince someone they're "burning" from
the sun when they're not...

Q: What do I carry it with?
A: There's that empty pitcher... Grab the mug while you're at
it.

Head back to Brimstone Beach and Palido Domingo.

2.2.14 Brimstone Beach

Q: Okay, how do I psych Domingo into turning over?
A: Give him the drink he's asking for.

Q: Uh, how?
A: Give him the mug, then pour the dye into the mug. It'll dye
him red. He'll think himself as burning, and he'll turn over.

Q: But how do I GET the map?
A: Guess you'll need him to shed the skin...

Q: And how do I do that?
A: Some oil would do quite nicely...

Q: And where would I find oil?
A: Back at the hotdog stand, where you met Cabana Boy...

Now that is one yucky map!

You got the crew, you got the map, all you need is the ship...
And you know thieves at Danjer Cove stole Elaine...

2.2.15 Danjer Cove

Q: I'm here. Now what?
A: Get to the ship, of course! (Get into the boat and use it).

Q: I'm at the ship, the Sea Cucumber. Should I get on?
A: Not yet. You know "walking the plank" is not pleasant, so
perhaps you should do something first...

Q: Uh... what?
A: Maybe you should... get rid of the plank.

Q: Uh... how?
A: *Sigh* Use the serrated knife on the plank.

Q: Uh, I got tarred and feathered!
A: Good, now you look like "El Pollo Diablo" that the voodoo lady
and Blondebeard talked about.... So...

2.2.16 Blondebeard Revisited

You go back to Blondebeard... And he, thinking you're El Pollo
Diablo, knocked you right out...

2.2.17 Sea Cucumber again

Q: I'm in the chicken pot and I lost the tar. Now what?
A: Observe... That guy is a loon, so perhaps you can convince him
to leave you the ship...

Q: Uh... how?
A: You got the Ventriloquism book, right? Use it...

And you got the map to Elaine too...

Q: Okay... how do I get back onto the island?
A: Try the porthole in the captain's room.

2.2.18 Finding Elaine

Q: Where do I go now?
A: All you need now is Elaine's statue. Which location have you
NOT explored thoroughly?

Go back to the theater... Go through the side door, then onto the
stage. You'll see the Monkeys are in the audience.

Q: Now what?
A: Head upstairs... Look at the control panel, then at your map.
Follow the directions carefully (there may be NONE, depending on
difficulty level), then pull the handle.

Well, guess X marks the spot.

Q: So how do I get rid of Slappy Cromwell so I can dig at the X?
A: He's about to do the juggling act... And apparently he'll use
the cannonballs... See a way to... sabotage him? (Check your
inventory)

Q: Uh... lubrication?

A: Exactly! Chicken grease on the cannonballs!

Q: So Slappy and the other flew off stage... Now what?
A: Start digging.

Cutscene: All right, the crew is here, the ship is here, the map
is here, and Elaine is here... So, it's off the Blood Island you
go!

2.3 PART 3: THREE SHEETS TO THE WIND

Cutscene: Rottingham, now bald (thanks to you), wants the map to
Blood Island for himself... As he wants that huge diamond that
you mentioned. And your sword fighting (combined with insult) is
just NOT good enough yet... He got the map...

After that, your crew starts singing pirate song... And whatever
you say to them, they reply with a stanza that rhymes...

2.3.1 Pirate Song

Q: How do I get them to shut up?
A: Well, their reply rhymes, right? So... can you find something
that doesn't rhyme?

Q: Hmmm... But I don't see any...
A: Keep picking choices until you can find one that does NOT
rhyme with anything.

Q: All right, what does NOT rhyme?
A: Orange.

Q: Okay, they stopped singing. What do I do now?
A: Ask Haggis.

Q: Okay, so should I go easy or hard?
A: I pick easy... but it's up to you. Hard means you can to
manage the speed and shot type as well. just use easy.

Q: Then what?
A: View the navigation chart, and pick a ship to go after... Or
go back to port. You need to get the map back from Rottingham,
but you need to build up your ship first before you can beat
Rottingham.

Q: How do I build up my ship?
A: Defeat the other pirates running around with sea battles and
sword fights, and you'll get a full hold of booty. Then go back
to port and get better cannons.

2.3.2 Sea Battles

The sea battles are relatively easy, actually. Use arrow keys to
maneuver the ship. Land as many shots on the enemy ship as you
can. When you defeat them in naval battle, you then jump onboard
for a swordfight.

TACTIC: Cross the other guy's T, either from behind or from the
front.

TACTIC: Behind is better, as you can run circles behind him and
use both broadsides.

TACTIC: Upgraded cannons do a lot more damage, and has further
range.

When you win, and have hold full of booty, head back to Puerto
Pollo. Lenny is now a gun runner, and he'll help you upgrade your
cannons. You start low, so you'll have to upgrade one level at a
time.

AVOID Rottingham whenever possible. Pick on the other pirate
ships around the area. They come in different "grades". The
really wimpy ones can be VERY easily defeated, as they have very
limited vocabulary when it comes to insults and comebacks.

Hopefully, by the time you've defeated all the pirates except
Rottingham you would have upgraded to level 7 (Destructomatic T-
47) cannons. THEN you can take on Rottingham, though you COULD
beat him with lesser cannons.

2.3.3 Swordfight (except against Rottingham)

You need to attack and parry (insult, and comeback). You'll need
to LEARN the various insults and responses from the various
pirates that roam the seas...

The fight's simple. You start with an insult. Your opponent must
provide a comeback. If he can't recite the comeback (he replies
with "Oh yeah?" or "I'm rubber, you're glue"), you gain one
point. If he can recite the comeback, he gains one point, and he
gets to make the next insult. The first person to get 3 points
wins.

You need to learn new insults and new comebacks, and the only way
to learn them is to hear it from the other guy. Learn new insults
by letting the other guy insult you (i.e. use an insult you KNOW
he has a comeback). Use insults you've never used before to learn
new comebacks.

Different pirates (different colors) have different insults and
knows different comebacks.

Here's a list of them (possibly incomplete):

[I] Every enemy I've met I've annihilated!

[C] With your breath, I'm sure they all suffocated.

[I] You're as repulsive as a monkey in a negligee!
[C] I look that much like your fiancee?

[I] Killing you would be justifiable homicide!
[C] Then killing you must be justifiable fungicide.

[I] You're the ugliest monster ever created!
[C] If you don't count all the ones you've dated.

[I] I'll skewer you like a sow at a buffet!
[C] When I'm done with you, you'll be a boneless filet.

[I] Would you like to be buried, or cremated?
[C] With you around, I'd rather be fumigated.

[I] Coming face to face with me must leave you petrified!
[C] Is that your face? I thought it was your backside.

[I] When your father first saw you, he must have been mortified!
[C] At least mine can be identified.

[I] You can't match my witty repartee!
[C] I could, if you would use some breath spray.

[I] I have never seen such clumsy swordplay!
[C] You would have, but you were always running away.

[I] Throughout the Caribbean, my great deeds are celebrated!
[C] Too bad they're all fabricated.

[I] I can't rest 'til you've been exterminated!
[C] Then perhaps you should switch to decaffeinated.

[I] Heaven preserve me! You look like something that's died!
[C] The only way you'll be preserved is in formaldehyde.

[I] I'll hound you night and day!
[C] Then be a good dog. Sit! Stay!

2.3.4 Swordfight against Rottingham

Rottingham plays by slightly different rules. With normal
pirates, you can go back and forth until one side gains three
points. With Rottingham, he wins if he gets ONE point, whereas
you win if you score THREE points. Rottingham also has a slightly
different insult list, but you can use the same comebacks you
already know.

The "incomplete" list is as follows:

[I] You have the sex appeal of a shar-pei!

[C] I look that much like your fiancee?

[I] My attacks have left entire islands depopulated!
[C] With your breath, I'm sure they all suffocated.

[I] Your looks would make pigs nauseated!
[C] If you don't count all the ones you dated.

[I] I have never lost a melee!
[C] You would have, but you were always running away.

[I] Nothing can stop me from blowing you away!
[C] I could, if you would use some breath spray.

[I] When I'm done, your body will be rotted and putrefied!
[C] Then killing you must be justifiable fungicide.

[I] You'll find I'm dogged and relentless to my prey!
[C] Then be a good dog, sit! Stay!

[I] My skills with a sword are highly venerated!
[C] Too bad they're all fabricated.

Once you've defeated Rottingham, you regain your map, and it's
off to Blood Island...

Cutscene: Then on the way, you ran into this storm... And then...

2.4 PART 4 : THE BARTENDER, THE THIEVES, HIS AUNT AND HER LOVER

You are now on Blood Island... Haggis and crew have mutinied. You
are on your own again. Elaine's statue is out there somewhere...

Feel free to explore the island a bit. There are essentially the
following locations: beach, clearing (Elaine), cemetery,
undertaker, hotel (multiple locations inside), windmill, cove,
lighthouse, and village.

The puzzles are essentially as follows: you need to get the
cursed ring OFF Elaine, and you need to locate the OTHER ring on
this island. Of course, there are a LOT of things to do before
you can do that.

2.4.1 Beach

Q: How do I get the lotion from Haggis?
A: You'll need to find him something as good as tar to fix the
ship.

Q: If I did find that stuff, what do I need the lotion for?
A: To get the ring off Elaine, of course... Haggis DID say it's
VERY greasy and slippery...

HINT: Grab the bottle off the ground before you leave.

2.4.2 Hotel

Q: What do I do in the storage room?
A: You need some cheese. (Trust me)

Q: How do I get some cheese? It's too hard!
A: Use a chisel.

Q: Uh, where do I find the chisel?
A: Try the undertaker (beyond the graveyard/crypts).

Q: What do I do with the bartender?
A: Well, he did say he needs something to wake him up...

Q: I have no idea what he means.
A: Read the drink recipe book next to him... See one that cures
hang-overs?

Q: Uh, where do I find the ingredients?
A: Which one? Hair of dog who bit me, the egg, or pepper?

Q: Where do I find hair of dog who bit me?
A: You see a dog somewhere in your exploration?

Q: Uh, no?
A: Try the undertaker (beyond the graveyard/crypt).

Q: Where do I find the egg?
A: It's at the "cove" near the lighthouse.

Q: How do I reach it?
A: Well... you don't. You make the egg reach you.

Q: Huh?
A: *sigh* Put something on the ground and make the egg drop down
to it. (It IS a rubber tree the egg's sitting on, right?)

Q: So what do I use as a cushion?
A: Where did you see one that you can take?

Q: Uh, the bar in the hotel?
A: Exactly! (One of the cushions is loose)

Q: What do I hit the tree with?
A: A mallet, of course.

Q: And where do I find this mallet?
A: You can find mallet and chisel at the undertaker (next to the
blind dog).

Q: Where is the pepper?

A: It's next to the windmill.

Once you got the bartender awake, talk to him for LOTS of
information... Eventually, you'll figure out your next
objectives... You need to get into the Goodsoup Family Crypt...
Also, the diamond itself is on Skull island. He'll also tell you
how to get to Skull Island by finding the Flying Welshman. He
also explains how his hotel is ruined now that nobody comes, as
the volcano doesn't go off any more.

So your tasks are: Solve the Volcano problem, Get into Goodsoup
Family Crypt, and Locate the Flying Welshman. Together, they will
help you solve the other problems.

2.4.3 Solving the Volcano

So why isn't the volcano spewing any more lava? Guess you'll have
to visit that "village"...

Q: What do I do in the village?
A: Grab all the items you can.

Q: What do I do with the block of tofu?
A: Well, it is as big as your head...

Q: Uh, what does that mean?
A: *Sigh* Take a look at Lemonhead over there...

Q: Oh, you mean...
A: Yep, you have to WEAR it.

Q: But I can't!
A: Guess you need to add some eyeholes and a mouth...

Q: How do I do that?
A: *Sigh* with a chisel.

Cutscene: Watch the cutscene, where they sacrifice the veggies to
the Volcano...

Q: Now what?
A: Care to guess what would cause heartburn?

Q: Uh... Cheddar Cheese?
A: Bingo!

Q: How do I do that?
A: Drop some off the side of platform.

Cutscene: All right! The volcano blows again, and lava is flowing
down! In fact, it flows past that channel right outside the
hotel!

Q: What now?

A: See anything around you can... melt?

Q: Uh... more cheese?
A: Bingo!

Q: What do I do with that?
A: Melted cheese has consistency of...

Q: Uh... tar?
A: Bingo!

(Yep, take pot of melted cheese back to Haggis, and you can get
the lotion. Then go take that cursed ring off Elaine. )

2.4.4 Getting into the Crypt

Q: Okay, what do I need to get into the crypt?
A: The bartender already told you.

Q: You mean... die?
A: Well, sort of. Come very close to it, in fact.

Q: I don't believe you.
A: Go to the fortune teller, and ask her to do your future... And
see for yourself. In fact, do it five times in a row to be REALLY
sure.

HINT: Grab the five death cards when your fortune's told.

Q: So, how do I do it?
A: Spike your drink with that Head-B-Clear potion you concocted
earlier for the bartender.

Q: And which drink should I pick?
A: Preferably the one with an umbrella. :-) But it doesn't
really matter.

Q: How do I use the Head-B-Clear? I can't open it!
A: Use the chisel to open it.

Cutscene: So you're now in a coffin in the crypt...

2.4.5 The Crypt (Not!)

Q: How do I get out?
A: Use the chisel.

NOTE: Get the nails while you're at it.

Q: Uh, what's the noise I hear?
A: It's coming from the center coffin.

Q: So?

A: Release him too.

It's Stan! Stan the... (never mind).

Q: What do I do now?
A: Go back to the hotel and complain...

2.4.6 Hotel Again

Q: What do I do now?
A: Complain to the bartender.

Q: All right, how do I become a member of the Goodsoup family?
A: Guess you'll have to memorize a bit of family history...

Q: Where will I find this family history?
A: Try upstairs, in the room with the open door.

Q: Uh, there's nothing here.
A: "Use" the bed.

Q: But I can't grab the book! The bed closes immediately!
A: Guess you'll have to find something to nail the bed down...

Q: Where are the nails?
A: At your original coffin. (You did get it, didn't you?)

Q: But that's not enough!
A: Well, what holds up portraits?

Q: Uh, nails?
A: Yep, see some around you?

Q: Uh, no?
A: *Sigh* Inside that room with closed door.

Q: I see it... How do I get it?
A: *SIGH* Pound it with your mallet. Then go outside and grab it.

Q: I've convinced the bartender that I'm a Goodsoup. Now what?
A: Well, I guess you'll just need to "die" again...

HINT: Don't die quite yet... Did you remember what STAN is now
selling?

Q: Uh... Life insurance?
A: Yep... Why don't you buy one, for the heck for it?

Q: What do I pay him with?
A: Well, there's this "treasure" you found before...

Q: Oh, that one I impressed Bill with?
A: Yep.

HINT: Now you can go "die" again...

2.4.7 Goodsoup Crypt

You're now in the Goodsoup Crypt... Walk left...

There's the Ghost Bride. You COULD talk to her, and she'll tell
you about her "groom" that never came. You will need to find her
"groom" to get the wedding band... And get the diamond later.
Keep walking left... It's Murray again!

Okay, you're stuck inside the crypt, and you have to get out...

Q: So how do I get out?
A: The only person you can access is Mort, the undertaker (you
can see him through the crack).

Q: So how do I convince him to release me?
A: Well, Murray keeps talking about scaring people... So perhaps
you can oblige him.

Q: How do I do that?
A: Ever try... shadow puppets?

Q: You mean, put a lamp behind your hand, and make funky shadows
with your hands?
A: Yep...

Q: Uh, where do I get a lantern?
A: Get it from Mort.

Q: Uh... How do I do that?
A: You still have that skeleton arm from Chapter 1, right?

Q: I got the lamp. Now what?
A: *Sigh* Put the lantern on the coffin before the crack. Then
use Murray on the lantern.

Q: Where do I go now?
A: Go back to the hotel, in the storage room.

2.4.8 Hotel yet again

Q: What do I do here?
A: The storage room has your "death certificate". You can use
that to collect some money from Stan.

Q: Now what?
A: Guess you need to solve the next puzzle... How to send the
groom to the bride?

Q: Uh, who's the groom?

A: You see any skeletons lying around?

Q: Oh, you mean...
A: Yep, that one in the bed.

Q: So how do I... send him on his way?
A: Guess you'll need to open up that hole...

Q: And how do I do that?
A: Got a crowbar?

Q: Uh, no...
A: You didn't grab one while in the Goodsoup crypt? Go back and
get it.

Q: The hole's open. Now what?
A: Well, guess you'll have to release the bed...

Q: How do I do that?
A: *Sigh* use the crowbar again... On the bed.

Cutscene: Minnie and Charles went on their happy way, leaving the
wedding band behind.

So go grab the wedding band. With the cursed ring off, all you
need now is the Diamond...

2.4.9 Flying Welshman

Q: How do I find the flying Welshman?
A: Remember the story the Bartender told you? (Go back and ask
him again if you don't remember.)

Q: So what do I do?
A: You summon The Flying Welshman by fixing the lighthouse.

Q: Uh, how do I do that?
A: Go examine the lighthouse a bit.

Q: It is missing a lantern.
A: Guess you'll need to make one.

Q: But the one in the crypt is out of oil...
A: Guess you'll have to find another way.

Q: Which way is that?
A: Well, remember as kids, you trap fireflies in a jar?

Q: Where do I find a jar?
A: Try the hotel.

Q: The tip jar?
A: Is there any other?

Q: Where are the fireflies?
A: Next to Elaine's statue.

Q: But they won't go in!
A: Guess you'll need to find something they like... Sugar water?

Q: Where's that?
A: At the windmill (upper story).

Put the jar with sugar water on that stump next to the statue,
and the fireflies will move in. Put the cap on, and take it back
to the lighthouse... Put it in, and come back down...Aha, there's
the Flying Welshman!

Q: But Flying Welshman won't take me!
A: Guess you'll need to make him a compass.

Q: How do I do that?
A: Try reading that encyclopedia you got from the snake's inside.

Q: So where do I find a needle, a cork, magnet, and a cup?
A: You already have the needle (the voodoo one). Cork... You
should already have that as well, from opening an existing
bottle. Magnet... It's in the hotel stroage room. on the
refrigerator. The cup... Is that measuring cup in the village
feast.

2.4.10 Skull Island

Q: So where do I go on Skull Island?
A: The only way is up.

Q: What do I do with LaFoot?
A: Well, guess he'll try to lower you down to the cave
entrance...

Q: Ugh! Oooh! Arrgh! Ouch! The pain!
A: Well, guess you need to make a softer landing...

Q: Huh?
A: Do the Mary Poppins thing.

Q: You mean... Umbrella?
A: Yep... Pull out the Umbrella while you fall... Quickly!

Just talk to King Andre... It doesn't really matter much what you
say, as long as you don't quit, though if you did not bring the
insurance money, you can go get it from Stan (or die again, if
you need to buy the insurance).

Just watch the cutscene as LaFoot manage to give you the chance
to escape with the Diamond, and you get your "revenge".

And another cutscene, as LeChuck figures out where you are...

2.4.11 Back to Blood Island.

Okay, you got the diamond, the band, so go see Elaine... Assemble
the ring, and put it on her finger...

Voila! She's back to normal! And she punched you... Then
LeChuck's undead goons showed up...

2.5 PART 5: KISS OF THE SPIDER MONKEY

Guybrush is held prisoner in this cable car rigged with
explosives... Feel free to chat with LeChuck about anything and
everything, though it doesn't really matter very much. It is
funny listening to all that though.

Any way, when you say you've heard enough, LeChuck turns you into
a 7-year old kid, and runs off with Elaine.

Q: What do I do now?
A: Open the door of the cable car, really.

2.5.1 In the Carnival

Q: Now what?
A: You need to get on the rollercoaster.

Q: But how? Dinghy Dog (tm) won't let me!
A: Guess you'll have to grow back to original size first.

Q: And how do I do that?
A: Well, you still have this hang-over recipe... Can you get sort-
of-close to it?

Q: So what do I use in place of an egg?
A: Well, guess egg white will have to do.

Q: You mean... meringue?
A: Meringue is egg white. :-)

Q: But how do I get it?
A: Since you can't get the pie, guess you'll have to be the
target.

Q: And how do I do THAT?
A: You'll need to get rid of the existing target, of course.

Q: And how do I do THAT?
A: You can probably put something INSIDE the pie that gets
fired...

Q: And let me guess... An anchor?

A: Well, that's about the only thing you COULD get... (Try
asking for other items...)

Q: So how do I get the anchor?
A: You'll have to win that little game with Dinghy Dog (tm)...

Q: The target's out of the picture. Now what?
A: Open the gate and use the opening. You'll get meringue.

Q: How about hair of dog who bit me?
A: See any dog around?

Q: You mean... Dinghy Dog (tm)?
A: Yep.

Q: How do I do that?
A: Talk more to Rat Man and see what he suggests...

Q: More specific please?
A: *Sigh* Push Dinghy Dog (tm) five times.

Q: Where's the pepper?
A: There's one at the snowcone booth.

Q: So what do I put all the stuff on?
A: Since you can't have a real drink, guess a snowcone it'll have
to be.

Enjoy the snowcone... And POP! You're back to normal size!

2.6 PART 6: GUYBRUSH KICKS BUTT AGAIN

You're riding the coaster, and you've arrived at exhibit 1, with
hangman and rope. The coast moves in a circle, as you get four
exhibits. Exhibit 2 is drinking and carousing (with real kegs of
rum). Exhibit 3 is night scene with lamp. Exhibit 4 is giant snow
monkey exhibit. Then you get back to exhibit 1 again.

If you stay at one exhibit too long, LeChuck will come by and
hurry you along.

Q: What do I do?
A: Guess you'll need to, uh... arrange for another explosion.

Q: So what explodes?
A: Well, there's barrel of rum (Exhibit 2)

Q: How do I detonate it?
A: Guess you'll need a "rope". (Exhibit 1)

Q: But a rope doesn't burn!
A: It would if you soak it in oil.

Q: How do I soak rope in oil?

A: Find some oil... lamp oil to be exact. (Exhibit 3).

Q: Where do I put everything?
A: Exhibit 4.

Q: LeChuck's here. Now what?
A: Make him sneeze.

Q: You mean...
A: Yep, pepper.

Congratulations, you've beaten LeChuck yet again, and now can
really enjoy the time with Elaine!

3 Regular Monkey Walkthrough

This is every step you need to take to solve the game. You
probably do NOT have to perform everything in order given here,
but I can't guarantee it would work in any other order either.

3.1 PROLOGUE

Cutscene: Guybrush is in the ocean and floating along... and ran
into LeChuck attacking the fort... And he's taken onboard
LeChuck's ship...

3.2 PART 1: THE DEMISE OF LECHUCK

3.2.1 Gun Room

You are in the gun room. A small pirate is there with a big
cannon. He'll draw a pistol and point it at you if you approach.
There is no way to get out of the room (yet).

Talk to the small pirate. He'll tell you he's "Bloodnose", but
you'll recognize him as Wally (from the previous game in the
series). Get more information out of him.

When you've exhausted the information, insult him on how lousy of
a pirate he is. In fact, tell him "Snap out of it Wally!" and
follow it with "You're a failure of a pirate." He will break
down and cry. He'll drop that plastic toy hook

Go ahead and try the cannon, and hit all four boats full of
LeChuck's undead while you're at it.

Pick up the plastic hook, and the rampart (rod) on the wall.
Combine the hook with the rampart. Then move to look outside the
porthole (to left). Use the rampart/hook and pick up the skeleton
arm (with cutlass), and talk a bit with Murray, the talking
skull.

Examine the cannon carefully, there's the restraining rope
holding it back. Use the cutlass you picked up and cut the
restraining rope. Now use the cannon... BAM!

Cutscene: LeChuck is enjoying the evilness of his Voodoo cannon
ball... And you manage to sank the ship right underneath him...
And you.

3.2.2 Treasure Room

You are now in LeChuck's treasure room... Except it's now upside
down. Treasure is dumped everywhere. There's a hole in the
"ceiling", and there's a porthole to your right. There are lots
of misc. items on the floor.

Get the brown bag next to the portrait. Get the diamond ring
that's revealed. Use the diamond ring with the porthole (cut a
hole in it).

Cutscene: You float out of the ship and made it to shore... And
you put the ring on Elaine's finger as engagement gift... Then
Wally comes along and told you that the ring you got is probably
LeChuck's cursed ring. Before Elaine can punch you, she turns
into a statue of gold!

3.3 PART 2: THE CURSE GETS WORSE

3.3.1 Beach

You are on the beach. To left is Puerto Pollo. To right is the
jungle/swamp.

Head into the swamp.

3.3.2 Swamp

Talk to Murray again, then continue into the ship.

3.3.3 Voodoo Lady's Lounge

You are at the Voodoo Lady's Lounge. There's a gum vending
machine to your left, alligator to your right, and paper doll
with voodoo pin to far right.

Get the voodoo pin on the paper doll.

Use one of your wooden nickels in the candy machine nearby. Grab
the gum that popped out.

Pull the alligator's tongue. The voodoo lady from the previous
Monkey Island games appears. Ask her for LOTS of information.
When she asks where you hid Elaine, you run back to the beach...
Only to find a pirate ship has just stolen Elaine and is sailing
away.

Return to swamp. Talk to the voodoo lady about whatever you want.
Keep talking to the Voodoo Lady for more information. You'll
basically need to find Blood Island, locate an uncursed ring to
break the curse. To get there, you'll need a crew, map to Blood
Island, and a ship.

You now know what to do. Head back to beach.

Grab the embers as you pass.

Head into Puerto Pollo.

3.3.4 Puerto Pollo

Puerto Pollo is a pretty wide town. Start from left, you get
Lenny's Lemonade Stand, closed passage, Blondebeard's Chicken n'
Things, Town Hall / Theater (with side entrance), exit to Cabana
Club, and Barbery Coast.

Head into the Town Hall / Theater Dressing Room.

3.3.5 Theater Dressing Room

You're in the dressing room. You see a mirror/table with items on
it, chest, jackets, various stage props, and a staircase up
leading to the lighting control room.

Pick up the "dandruff" on the Civil War Coat (take a closer look
at it first).

Pick up the glove from the coat as well.

Pick up the magic wand and use it with the magic hat. Pick up the
ventriloquism book that appears.

Exit room. Go to Barbery Coast (at the docks)

3.3.6 Barbery Coast

Four pirates occupy 'Barbery Coast'... One of them is getting a
haircut, three of them are the ones doing it. The big guy is
Haggis McMutton, the suave guy is Van Helgen, and the sitting guy
is Bill. The guy getting the cut is Rene Rottingham.

You'll blurt out everything about your quest... But it doesn't
matter. What you do need to notice is that scissors stuck in the
ceiling above Haggis. Haggis keeps eyeing the hair and keeps
picking up and putting down that comb.

When he puts it down, put the lice on it.

Haggis will cut off all of Rottingham's hair, and toss him out of
the shop.

Ask Haggis for a haircut. You'll get to sit down in the chair.

Play with the handle on the side of the chair.

Also nab the paperweight. When Haggis runs off to find another
paperweight, keep using the handle until the chair is high enough
for you to nab the scissors. You'll lower yourself and Haggis
comes back. Forget about the haircut...

Use the glove on Van Gelder, the thin suave pirate, and challenge
him to a duel. You arrive at the field of honor.

Close the middle pistol box. Open the banjo case behind.

This banjo duel is basically a cute version of "Simon", or
"repeat after me". Van Helgan will play single notes after a few
chords. Remember them, and repeat them when it's your turn.

After the third attempt at trying to beat you, he will start
playing some SERIOUS riffs. You can't beat him.

Go to the pistol case and pick up a pistol. Shoot the banjo in
his hand.

Van Geldar will be impressed by your low tactic and joins your
crew. You'll return to the barbershop.

Leave the barbershop and go to the blocked passage right next to
Blondebeard's Chicken n' Things.

3.3.7 Passage Way

Use the scissors with the blocked passage between Lenny's
Lemonade and Blondebeard's place. Read the signs while you're at
it.

Get the flower (Ipecac).

Continue cutting, and you'll walk further into the passage...

3.3.8 Snake Crossing

Go ahead and read the sign. It says "snake..."

Cutscene: a snake ate you!

You're now inside the snake. Pick up the Faberge Egg, vacuum
cleaner attachments, and lots o' stuff, and everything else you
can find inside the snake.

Use the flower on the syrup to make Ipecac syrup. Then use the
syrup on the snake (snake's head to be exact).

The snake will spit you out, and you end up in...

3.3.9 Quicksand pit

You're now stuck in the quicksand pit.

Use the helium balloon with the paperweight (creates a floating
baloon.

Blow the balloon and it will go in place next to a tree.

Pick up a thorn from the thorny plant.

Pick up the reed from the side.

Use the thorn with the hollow reed in your inventory to create a
peashooter (blowgun).

Use the peashooter with the balloon, and you'll get to the vine,
and escape to Danjer Cove.

3.3.10 Danger Cove

Leave Danjer Cove for the moment and return to Puerto Pollo, and
go to Blondebeard's Chicken n' Things.

3.3.11 Blondebeard's Chicken n' Things

You're at Blondebear's Chicken n' Things. You can read the menu,
doesn't say much. :-) There's a table at lower right with a quiet
patron.

Give Blondebeard your reservation slip. Talk to him for a LOT of
information.

Go over to the quiet patron. Push the quiet patron. (Eeek!) He is
a Grim-Fandango skeleton!

Blondebeard will mention that he lost his Club Cabana membership
card.

Get the club card in the ribcage of the chicken.

Get the serrated knife out of the back of the patron.

Head to the Club Cabana (that arch next to the Town Hall).

3.3.12 Club Cabana Boy

You're at the Club Cabana, at the hot dog stand.

Show the club card to the Cabana Boy. He is NOT pleased.

Pick up three towels from the pile.

Dip one in the ice bucket, make it wet.

Use one of the towels with the cabana boy. (Wet towel whip!)

Pick up the bottle of cooking oil (you'll need it) and go onto
the beach.

3.3.13 Brimstone Beach

You're on the beach, and on the far end is Palido Domingo, the
agent of Slappy Cromwell, the performer at 'Speare! However, you
can't walk across the sand... it's too hot!

Put the three wet towels on the hot sand, one at a time, to form
a path to Palido over there.

3.3.14 Beach 2

You're now next to Palido Domingo, the extremely UN-tan guy.

Go ahead and talk to him. He has the map to Blood Island tattooed
on his back... But he refuse to turn over. However, he doesn't
want to get burned. He tell you to get him more drinks.

Grab his mug, open the gate near him, and exit the beach.

Head back to Puerto Pollo, and stop at Lenny's Lemonade Stand.

3.3.15 Lenny's Lemonade Stand

Feel free to try Lenny's "bottomless mug" policy once... give him
a wooden nickel. Now you understand the trick.

Swap his bottomless mug with the mug you got from Palido.

Buy another lemonade from him, and this time you get to drink it.
He'll run off.

Take the pitcher and the bottomless mug.

Next to the stand is a vat of red dye. Fill the pitcher with it.

You can head back to Brimstone Beach now.

3.3.16 Beach 2 again

Put the bottomless mug on Palido.

Use the pitcher on the mug (filling it).

The dye will seep out and color his front... Sure looks burned!
And he'll turn over.

Use the cooking oil on his back... And you'll get the map off
(eeek!)

Head to the "field of honor" (near the grassy knoll).

3.3.17 Field of Honor

At the field of honor, head just "behind" the grassy knoll
(slightly up).

3.3.18 Grassy Knoll

Use the serrated knife on the sawhorse (holding up the barrel).
The barrel will roll to the tree.

Use the ember to light the trail of rum.

KABOOM! There's a new log (of rubber tree!) and you're back in
town... Head to the Barbery Coast again.

3.3.19 Barbery Coast

Challenge Haggis, and he'll want you to beat him at the ancient
Scott contest of caber toss... So go there, and you'll get to use
that rubber trunk... And you win automatically!

You'll end up back at the Barbery Coast. Take the jawbreaker on
the ground.

Talk to Bill (the third pirate) and see what he wants in order to
join you. He wants to see some treasure.

Go to Blondebeard's again.

3.3.20 Blondebeard's Chicken n' Things

If you talked to Blondebeard a lot last time, you should have
realized he has a gold tooth.

Give him the jawbreaker (to work it loose). He then asks for
something chewy.

Give him the steak-flavored bubble gum (you got from the voodoo
lady's lounge).

When he blows a bubble, pop the bubble with your voodoo pin.

Get the gold tooth from the ground where it was dropped.

Take it to Bill at Barbery Coast and show him.

Now all you need is the ship... So head to Danjer Cove

3.3.21 Danjer Cove

You see this boat on the beach, and a ship in the distance.
(There's nothing at the waterfall.)

Get into the boat and use it. You'll end up next to the ship.

Before you head up, CUT the plank (use serrated knife on plank).

Head up to the pirate ship.

3.3.22 Pirate Ship, the Sea Cucumber

You got on, and you get to talk to this Mr. Fossey... It doesn't
really matter what you say, but you'll get tar and feathered
(since you cut off the plank). And you end up at the beach, now
looking like a giant chicken...

Head to Blondebeard's place again.

3.3.23 Blondebeard's Place

The second you head in... Blondebeard mistakes you for El Pollo
Diablo, the legendary giant chicken! Then he knocks you cold...

3.3.24 Back on Sea Cucumber, Captain's Cabin

You're in the Captain's Cabin, inside a big chicken pot, onboard
the Sea Cucumber. The grease has washed off all your tar and
feathers, then you realize Fossey is a complete loon... As his
captain is a gorilla!

Use the ventriloquism book with Captain LeChimp. That'll convince
him to leave with the crew.

Once Fossey goes, you will take the map automatically. You can go
outside, but there's no way out.

Use the porthole to open it, and exit that way.

You're back at the beach. Head back into town, and go to the town
hall / theater.

3.3.25 Theater

You're at the dressing room. You can go right and see the
performance, but it's a pretty lousy one. You'll return
automatically to the dressing room any way.

Go upstairs to the lighting room.

Use the "handle" next to the control panel, and you'll see the
lights form a X on the stage. Head back down to dressing room.

Cutscene: Slappy is about to start his juggling act.

Use chicken grease on the cannonballs.

Cutscene: Slappy will drop one of the cannonballs, and he and his
assistants will FLY off the stage... And the audience will
leave...

Head back onto stage, and use the stage shovel...

Cutscene: Voila, you got Elaine back! You hid her on the ship...

You got the map and all three pirates, so it's off the second CD
you go...

3.4 PART 3: THREE SHEETS TO THE WIND

Cutscene: Rene Rottingham will board your ship and take your map
as he beat you in the swordfight (combined with insults).

You need to get it back from him... If only your crew will
cooperate...

3.4.1 Pirate Songs

Your crew broke into song, and they are using your sentence as a
basis for rhyme!

Keep choosing various choices until you get the one that ends in
"orange". Since nothing rhymes with orange, that ends their
singing spree.

3.4.2 Sea Battles

Please see section [2.3.2]. This is real-time battle and thus
would have no 'walkthru'.

3.4.3 Sword Fights (except with Rottingham)

Please see section [2.3.3]

3.4.4 Sword Fight with Rottingham

Please see section [2.3.4]

So you got the map, and you're sailing to Blood Island, and you
run into this big storm... and...

3.5 PART 4: THE BARTENDER, THE THIEVES, HIS AUNT, AND HER LOVER

You woke up on Blood Island. The ship is busted. Haggis and
others have mutinied, and you're on your own again.

3.5.1 Beach

Ask Haggis about the lotion. It's quite slippery, so you'll need
it to get the ring off Elaine. Haggis needs something similar to
tar to fix the ship. Keep this in mind. He'll give you the lotion
after you hand over the tar substitute.

Pick up the bottle on the ground. Head on inland, and go to
hotel.

3.5.2 Hotel

Hotel has storage room, madam Xima the fortuneteller, the
bartender with a bad hangover, and stairway.

The bartender needs a hangover cure... Read the recipe book next
to him. There's a hangover cure in there... It needs egg, pepper,
and "hair of dog that bites". Guess you'll have to go find some.

Get the cushion while you're at it. Exit the hotel and go to the
cemetery.

3.5.3 Cemetery

Walk past the two crypts to the undertaker.

3.5.4 Undertaker

Pick up the mallet and chisel.

Pick up the dog biscuits

Give a biscuit to the dog. Dog will "bite" you.

Pick up some hair from the dog.

Leave the undertaker and go to the windmill.

3.5.5 Windmill

Next to the windmill are pepper plants... Grab a pepper.

Head to the "cove" near the lighthouse.

3.5.6 Cove

The cove has a sign, and paths that leads to other parts of the
island. You'll see this egg on this rubber tree.

Put the cushion on the ground.

Use mallet on the tree, and egg will drop on the cushion. You can
then grab it.

Go back to the hotel.

3.5.7 Hotel

Give the three ingredients to the bartender, and he'll wake up.
He'll also give you a bottle of that stuff, called Head-B-Clear.
Keep it.

Talk to him for LOTS of information. Basically, you will learn
that the diamond you need to get is the Goodsoup family diamond,
but diamond itself was stolen. Just the wedding band remains, and
it's in the family crypt. However, you can't get in there. Talk
some more about any topic you want, just for the fun of it.

Head in the storage room.

3.5.8 Storage Room

Use chisel on the cheese wheel for lots of cheese.

Get the refrigerator magnet as well.

Exit the hotel, and get just outside the hotel. Explore right,
and you'll see the barbeque with a big pot. This is where the
bartender said where the lava used to flow and cook things.

Put some cheese in the pot. It's for later.

Go to the "village" next to the volcano.

3.5.9 Village

The village has two parts, the main "buffet" part, and the
"secret" part.

At the buffet part, get the block of tofu, then move right, and
grab the measuring cup and auger (what the heck is an auger?)

Use chisel on tofu to make a mask.

Wear the mask.

Continue down the path, and talk to Lemonhead. Watch the
"sacrifice".

When sacrifice is over, drop some cheese off the side of
platform. The volcano will spew lava again.

Head back to hotel.

3.5.10 Outside the Hotel

Pick up the big pot, now containing melted cheese.

Take it to Haggis on the beach. You can then get the lotion.

Take the lotion to Elaine's statue.

3.5.11 Clearing

Use the lotion on the ring finger.

Use the ring (to get it off). The ring disappears. That's one
third of the job done.

Note the fireflies... Remember that. Go back to the hotel.

3.5.12 Hotel

The Bartender already told you how you can get into the family
crypt... You need to DIE.

Have Madam Xima tell your fortune... Five death cards in a row,
heh?

Take the 5 death cards.

Ask the bartender for a drink, one with an umbrella.

Use chisel with bottle of head-b-clear (to open it).

Spike the drink with head-b-clear.

Drink it and you'll "die".

3.5.13 Crypt

This is, unfortunately, NOT the Goodsoup family crypt.

Use chisel on coffin to get out.

Grab all those nails while you're at it.

Use chisel on center coffin, and out comes Stan the salesman!
He'll yak and yak, when he ask you to leave, go ahead. You're now
in the graveyard. Head back to the hotel, and head upstairs.

3.5.14 Hotel Upstairs

The left room is closed, the right room is open.

Go in the left room, and you see this nail on the wall.

Pound the nail with your mallet.

Go back out and grab the nail.

Go into the right room, and "use" the bed (pull it down).

Use your nails on the bed.

Use your last nail on the bed.

Grab the book on the skeleton. It's Goodsoup family history.

Go back downstairs, and head to the cemetery.

3.5.15 Cemetery

The main crypt now has Stan's sign all over it. Head inside, and
talk to him... He's selling... life insurance! Go ahead and buy
one.

Give him gold tooth for the purchase price.

3.5.16 Hotel Lobby

Talk to the bartender, and he'll tell you that you need to be
Goodsoup family member to be buried in the Goodsoup crypt.

With the family history, you can pretend to be a family member...
Say what you want.

When you're ready, order another drink, spike it, and die again.

3.5.17 Goodsoup Family Crypt

You're on the right side. There is no way out. Go left and you'll
walk past the ghost bride. Continue left to the end coffin.

Go ahead and look around... There's this crack you can look
through that shows you a screen from an old LucasArts game!

Get the crowbar. Murray will scare the **** out of you again.

Pick up Murray.

Look through the crack and you'll see Mort, the undertaker, in
bed.

Use skeleton arm to grab the lantern.

Put lantern on the coffin.

Use Murray on lantern... and you'll scare the **** out of Mort!
Now you can get out of the crypt!

Go back to hotel.

3.5.18 Hotel Again

Go into storage room.

Get death certificate.

Head upstairs, go into second room.

Use crowbar on the hole (boarded up).

Use crowbar on the bed.

Cutscene: POW! Charles is delivered to his bride!

Head to the graveyard.

3.5.19 Graveyard

Head inside Stan's new office, and give him the death certificate
to get your insurance claim... You get "a lot of money".

Go into the Goodsoup Crypt and get the wedding band.

Now all you need is to find the diamond, and that means you need
to locate the Flying Welshman... But that means you need to fix
the lighthouse. You have an idea...

Go to the Hotel

3.5.20 Hotel

Get the tip jar. Use chisel on it and open it.

Go to windmill.

3.5.21 Windmill

Head inside the windmill. On the top, use the jar with that
barrel of sugar water.

Come back down, and go to the clearing where Elaine is.

3.5.22 Clearing

Put the jar with sugar water on that tree stump. Fireflies will
go in.

Pick it up and close the jar.

Go to the lighthouse.

3.5.23 Lighthouse.

Continue up and put the "lantern" in the spot for it.

Come back down to the cove.

3.5.24 Cove

You see the Flying Welshman there. Ask him, and he'll demand a
compass. Do you remember how to make one? (Consult your
encyclopedia if you're not sure).

Use the measuring cup with the seawater.

Use the voodoo pin with the cork.

Use magnet on cork/pin.

Use the magnetized cork and pin with measuring cup.

Give the finished compass to the Lost Welshman.

Talk to him and ask him to bring you to Skull Island.

3.5.25 Skull island

After a little skit, you will find yourself at the top of Skull
Island. Talk to the winch operator. Ask him to lower you down
into the smuggler's cave. He will mess up and you will fall.

Use the umbrella to slow your descent (you need to do it in 3
seconds).

If you didn't make it in time, just head up there and try again.

Enter the cave. You'll see King Andre and his henchman. Mention
how much money you have and then give your name... Any name.
King Andre knows your real name any way.

Ask about the diamond and ask how you can come up with a deal.
Pay to enter. King Andre will deal cards...

Put down those five DEATH cards. Five-of-a-kind. Woohoo!

Cutscene: The two nasties will threaten you. LaFoot comes in and
blows out the lights by accident, and you'll steal the diamond in
the darkness. Before you go, you'll have to do something about
Lafoot... You will then get away via the Lost Welshman.

You're back at the cove. Head to the clearing.

Cutscene: LeChuck's busy recruiting more undead henchmen... And
they now know where YOU are...

3.5.26 Clearing

Put the diamond in the engagement band to form a complete ring.

Put the ring on Elaine's finger.

Cutscene: Elaine finishes the punch, then you get to explain the
problem, and how you solved it... Just as you share a well-
deserved hug, LeChuck's undead pirates arrived!

3.6 PART 5: THE KISS OF THE SPIDER MONKEY

You're in a cable car loaded with explosives... Elaine is tied
up, and LeChuck is boasting again. Feel free to talk with LeChuck
for lots of humorous dialogue. When you're done, tell him you're
not listening any more, and he'll turn you into a kid.

3.6.1 Cable Car

Okay, how would you get out?

"Use" the door. Really, that's it.

3.6.2 Amusement Park

Amusement park is pretty short. There's Rat guy with his pie
cannon, Dinghy Dog (tm) and his prize booth, then the snowcone
soda jerk.

You need to find Elaine, which means you need to get on the ride,
but you need to be bigger. So... how do you return to normal? The
only clue you have is that head-B-clear recipe you got... Pepper,
Dog Hair, and Egg, so come as close to that as possible.

Talk to Rat guy, and you'll realize that meringue is egg white,
close enough. However, how do you get it? You need to get rid of
the clown, and the anchor in the prize booth will do nicely.
However, to do that, you'll need to play that game with Dinghy
Dog.

Have Dinghy Dog guess your age. He'll fail, and you get to pick
the anchor.

Put the anchor in the meringue pie, then you'll convince Rat guy
to try the cannon again. Voila, no more clown!

Go to that little "gate", open it.

Use that little window, and you'll get a pie in the face. There's
meringue.

To get dog hair, push Dinghy Dog (tm) five times in a row. He'll
"bite" you, and you get some of his hair.

For pepper, there's a pepper mill on the counter of snowcone
place.

So what do you serve it on? The only choice is snowcone, so get
it from the soda jerk.

Combine the ingredients, and enjoy.

Pow! You're back to normal!

3.7 PART 6: GUYBRUSH KICKS BUTT ONCE AGAIN

You arrive at the first exhibit... hangman.

Jump off and grab the rope.

Jump back in the car to head onto next exhibit.

If you dawdle (at any exhibit), LeChuck will come along and hurry
you along.

The next exhibit is about rum...

Jump off and grab one keg of rum.

Jump back in the car to head onto next exhibit.

Third exhibit is boring except for that lamp.

Jump off and grab the lamp.

Jump back in the car to head onto the final exhibit.

Jump off, and walk up slope to that huge monkey.

Use rum on monkey's hand.

Use rope on lamp (soak it in oil)

Use rope on rum (stretch it out and it's now a fuse)

Come back down and LeChuck should show up. He'll threaten to burn
you.

Pull out your pepper and use it on LeChuck. You'll blow some
pepper in his face, and he'll sneeze, igniting the fuse. You
jumped into the next car... And... Kaboom! LeChuck's buried
(again!)

Cutscene: Congratulations... You've defeated LeChuck and married
Elaine, finally!

4 Mega Monkey Hint Guide

This is the hint guide for the mega-monkey mode, which is
basically monkey mode with a few added puzzles.

4.1 PART 1: DEMISE OF LECHUCK

NOTE: This part is almost the same as the regular monkey version.

Prologue: Guybrush is floating in the middle of ocean, write in a
diary about how he must find Elaine, how unlikely he's going to
be rescued... Until he runs straight into LeChuck's minions...

4.1.1 Gun Room

You are in this room with a cannon and various items, and a small
pirate. Clearly, your objective is to escape... So... How would
you get out of this room?

Q: What do I do now?
A: Try talking to the small pirate.

Q: What do I say?
A: Well, he's clearly no pirate...

Q: He's still threatening me.
A: Dare him to shoot you. Twice.

Q: Okay, he dropped the hook. Now what?
A: Try the cannon...

Q: Okay, what do I hit?
A: Not the fort, that's for sure. You don't want to hit Elaine...

Q: I got them. Then what?
A: Try squeezing past the cannon.

Q: I can't get out.

Q: What do I grab?
A: There are only two items that's floating... the talking skull,
and the skeleton arm.

Q: Uh, with what?
A: *SIGH* You got a cutlass with the arm, didn't you?

Q: Where's the recoil rope?
A: *Argh!* It's "on" the cannon...

Q: Now what?
A: *Sigh* No sense of adventure, heh? What are you doing in an
adventure game? Any way, try the cannon.

Cutscene: Kaboom! LeChuck's ship turns turtle along with his
voodoo cannonball! However, you're going down WITH him...

4.1.2 Upside-down ship

You are in this upside-down treasure room with a lot of LeChuck's
treasure and junk. Explore the room a bit. There's a hole on the
top, and a glass porthole to the right, and junk all around.

Q: Now how do I get out?
A: It's not through the top, that's for sure...

Q: So how do I open the porthole?
A: You don't, but perhaps you can MAKE an opening...

Q: How about a hint?
A: Look for something to cut glass.

Q: Uh... more specific please?
A: A BIG diamond ring, near the "brown bag", which is near the
portrait.

Q: More specific please?
A: *Sigh* Use ring on porthole, thus cut a hole through... And
the room floods...

Cutscene: Voila! You float through the hole on the top, and you
washed up onshore, right into Elaine's arms! You proposed to her
immediately and put the ring on her finger... Then Wally comes
by... mentioned the ring's curse... Before Elaine can get the
ring off, she turns into a statue of solid gold!

4.2 PART 2: THE CURSE GETS WORSE

There are quite a few places to go, so explore a bit. There's the
beach you are on. Going left takes you to the town of Puerto
Pollo. Going right takes you to the swamp.

4.2.1 Beach

Feel free to explore the beach a bit. The fort cannot be reached
but you can go left (to Puerto Pollo) and right (into the jungle
and swamp). In fact, move left and access the overall island
map... And explore the island a bit.

Head into the swamp when you're ready...

4.2.2 Swamp

At the swamp, the skull will give you a fright. It's just Murray.
Go ahead and chat, then continue up into the ship...

Look around a bit. Notice items on the floor... Pin on paper
voodoo doll, a gum vending machine, and alligator's tongue. Grab
everything you can (pin, glue, and use the gum machine).

Q: What do I do now?
A: Try pulling on alligator's tongue.

Q: Who's that?
A: You don't recognize her from the previous games? Just talk to
her any way.

You'll go off on various discussions, questions, and lots of back
and forth... But just ask her a lot of stuff... Until you come to
"where did you hide her?"

CUTSCENE: Ack! Someone has stolen Elaine (the statue!)

Ask her about how to rescue Elaine...

Q: What's the advice?
A: Can't ye read, lad? Ship, crew, and map! (And Elaine, of
course)

Q: Now what?
A: You ain't gonna find no crew in the swamp, lad!

Q: So where do I go again?
A: *Sigh* Where else can you go? Puerto Pollo.

HINT: Before you go, get some of that chewing gum (you'll need to
use some of your wooden nickels), and the pin from the voodoo
doll, and the glue.

4.2.3 Puerto Pollo

Puerto Pollo is a wide town... Left side is Lenny, then a passage
into the swamp to Danjer Cove (blocked), then Blondebeard's
Chicken place, then the town hall, then exit to Cabana, then at
the waterfront is the Pirate Barber shop.

Q: What now?
A: Feel free to explore the town a bit. Pay special attention to
the dressing room at the theater...

Q: How do I get into Blondebeard's place? I don't have
reservation!
A: You'll find one later... Just go elsewhere for now. See
[4.2.8]

Q: How do I get into Cabana Club / Beach?

A: You'll find a way later. See [4.2.14]

4.2.4 Theater

Q: Uh, what's so special about the dressing room at the town
hall/theater?
A: 'Magic hat' and 'magic wand' together usually mean
something...

Q: So will something appear?
A: Indeed. Take it. You'll need it later.

Hint: explore this room thoroughly. Head right and talk to Slappy
Cromwell for more clues...

4.2.5 The Passage Puzzle

Q: How do I get through that passage next to Blondebeard's place?
A: You'll need something to cut through.

Q: Where can I find this item?
A: Try the Barbery Coast barber shop, look at the ceiling.

4.2.6 Barbery Coast / Scissors

Q: How do I get the scissors from the ceiling of the pirate
barber shop?
A: First, you need to get rid of the customer, Rene Rottingham,
in the barber's chair.

Q: Any suggestions?
A: Perhaps you need to introduce some thing no barber would want
to see...

Q: Uh, where can I find it?
A: Try that side door next to townhall...

Q: More specific?
A: Look on the Civil War jacket... It has... "dandruff" on it.

Q: And then?
A: The barber will drop the comb periodically... Try...
sabotaging the comb.

Q: Rottingham's gone. Now what?
A: Guess you need a haircut...

Q: Then what?
A: Care to guess what raises or lowers a barber's chair?

Q: More specific please?

A: *Sigh* The handles off to chair's side!

Q: Haggis won't let me use the chair! Now what?
A: Distract him.

Q: Uh, how?
A: Grab the paperweight, and he'll have to run off to find
another. THEN you can rise...

4.2.7 Passage

Q: Do the signs along the passage into the forest have
significance?
A: ALL the signs have SOME significance... Remember the
interesting ones.

Q: Is that flower significant?
A: Very much so.

4.2.8 Snake Crossing

You walk through and you come to this little knoll, with this
tree. There's a sign... As you try to read the sign...

Cutscene: Oops! You got eaten by this huge snake!

Q: Uh... How do I get out of this snake? I can't reach any of
those instruments!
A: What you need is INSIDE the snake, so pick up EVERYTHING
inside the snake, including Reservation slip, encyclopedia,
Faberge Egg, Syrup, etc.

Q: Now what?
A: Did you remember what those flowers/plants you cut do? Ipecac,
to be exact.

Q: Uh, no?
A: Ipecac is a purgative.

Q: What's a purgative?
A: *Sigh* it makes you "purge" yourself.

Q: Oh, yes, but... how?
A: See anything you can combine that flower with?

Q: Uh, no?
A: Think breakfast... with pancakes.

Q: I got the spiked syrup... Now what?
A: Pour some on the snake (inside the snake, technically).

Cutscene: Nice! The snake spat you out! Right into...

4.2.9 Quicksand!

Q: Wait... a blow gun?
A: Yep.

Q: What now?
A: Head back into town. Either get into Blondebeard's place, or
try recruiting the three pirates.

4.2.10 Recruiting Haggis

A: From Blondebeard's Chicken n' Things.

Q: But how do I get in?
A: See [4.2.13]

Q: Okay, now how do I... uh, light it?
A: There are some embers by the beach.

After that, go back and ask Haggis for a contest... And you'll
win!

4.2.11 Recruiting Van Heldan

Q: How do I challenge Van Heldan?
A: How do the old-style gents challenge others to duels?

Q: More specific please?
A: Slap him with the glove.

Q: Where do I get the glove?
A: *Sigh* Dressing room.

Q: Where in the dressing room?
A: *SIGH* In the jacket.

Q: So what "weapon" should I pick?
A: "The Unusual".

Q: Uh... what's unusual about the pistols?
A: Not the pistols... The BANJO!

Q: Uh... how do I win the game?
A: Follow those "single notes", write them down if you like, and
repeat them when it's your turn. You'll need to match him a
couple times, and you can't hesitate in MegaMonkey mode. You
snooze, you lose.

Q: He's doing some serious riffing now... What do I do?
A: Do the Indiana Jones solution...

Q: Huh?
A: The part where he just whips out a gun and shoots the other
guy?

Q: So I should shoot Van Heldan?
A: No, the BANJO!

4.2.12 Recruiting Cutthroat Bill

Q: How do I recruit Bill?
A: You need to impress him by finding some treasure on this
island.

Q: But I've looked everywhere...
A: Except inside Blondebeard's and Club Cabana.

4.2.13 Blondebeard's Place

Q: Okay, where's that reservation slip?
A: In the snake. You did get it, right?

Q: What about the quiet guy?
A: Go ahead and push him

Q: Eeek!
A: Get the knife from his back while you're at it. You'll need
it.

Q: Uh, what should I order?
A: Doesn't matter. Just talk to Blondebeard a bit... When you
can, ask him about his gold tooth

Q: How do I see inside the chicken?
A: You'll need something that will eat through the chicken...

Q: I have no idea
A: Try the secret ingredient in the biscuits.

Q: Huh?
A: *Sigh* take a bite and find out.

Q: Oh, so I use that on the chicken?
A: Exactly, and grab what's inside.

Q: Okay... How do I get the gold tooth out of Blondebeard?
A: See any... hard candy around?

Q: Uh, no?
A: One of the pirates has it.

Q: More specific please?
A: Push any of the three barber pirates... And see what happens.

Q: Okay, Blondebeard got the jawbreaker... The teeth's loose. Now
what?
A: He did say something about wanting something fleshy and
chewy...

Q: I have no idea...
A: Got any steak-flavored gum?

Q: Uh... where?
A: In the swamp... at the voodoo lady...

Q: And I get this with...
A: Your wooden nickels.

Q: Okay, and he's blowing bubbles...
A: So pop the bubble...

Q: With what?
A: *Sigh* You do have a PIN in your inventory, right?

Voila, the teeth is on the ground...

Q: Now what?
A: Take the tooth back to Bill and show him what you got...

Q: But I can't get out the door! Blondebeard got it back!
A: You'll need to get the teeth out without it being ON you...

Q: So how do I get the gold tooth again?
A: Have him blow another bubble.

Q: Hint please on how to get the tooth out?
A: Think... balloon.

Q: Huh?
A: Can you blow a helium balloon?

Q: Just tell me!
A: *Sigh* Chew gum. Combine gold tooth with wad of gum. Use
helium balloon (inhale). Chew wad of gum with gold tooth. You'll
blow a bubble and it'll float out the window.

HINT: While you're at it, grab the pie pan and the cookie cutter.

Q: Okay, I'm out. Where is it?
A: It's... in the mud puddle.

Q: How do I get it out?
A: How did the Forty-Niners (not the football team) do it?

Q: More specific please?

A: With that pan.

4.2.14 Club Cabana

Q: The Cabana Boy won't let me in.
A: Guess you'll have to locate a membership card.

Q: Wait, didn't Blondebeard said something?
A: Yep, go back and talk to him, he'll tell you he lost a card
with his... chickens.

Q: Is that the card I see...
A: Yep, in the chicken bones on the table with the... skeleton
fellow.

NOTE: That guy is from Grim Fandago, another LucasArts game.
He'll even drop a button that says so.

Q: So how do I get rid of the cabana boy?
A: This guy needs a whipping...

Q: I don't understand...
A: Locker room pranks... wet towel whip.

HINT: Open the gate, and head to Lenny's Lemonade place.

4.2.15 Lenny's Lemondade

Head back to Brimstone Beach and Palido Domingo.

4.2.16 Brimstone Beach

4.2.17 Danjer Cove

Q: I'm here, but there's a big hole in the boat.
A: Guess you'll need to patch it.

Q: What do I patch it with?
A: You have the glue, so you just need a "plug" of some sort.

Q: But a plug of what?
A: What's usually used to patch tires?

Q: Uh... Rubber?
A: Right!

Q: Where am I going to find a rubber plug?
A: You'll have to... make one.

Q: Huh?
A: You'll have to... cut one.

Q: With what?
A: *Sigh* Cookie cutter.

Q: I still don't understand.
A: *Sigh* Use the cookie cutter on the "other" rubber tree (the
one you didn't blow down).

Q: So how do I patch the ship?
A: Add glue to plug, then add gluey plug to hole.

So... Go back to Blondbeard's.

You go back to Blondebeard... And he, thinking you're El Pollo
Diablo, knocked you right out...

4.2.18 Sea Cucumber again

Q: I'm in the chicken pot and I lost the tar and feathers. Now
what?
A: Observe... That guy is a loon, so perhaps you can convince him
to leave you the ship...

Q: Uh... how?
A: You got the Ventriloquism book, right? Use it...

Q: Uh, on who?
A: The ape!

And you got the map to Elaine too...

Q: Okay... how do I get back onto the island?
A: Try the porthole in the captain's room.

4.2.19 Finding Elaine

Q: Where do I go now?
A: All you need now is Elaine's statue. Which location have you
NOT explored thoroughly?

Go back to the theater... Go through the side door, then onto the
stage. You'll see the monkeys are in the audience.

Q: Now what?
A: Head upstairs... Look at the control panel, then at your map.
Follow the directions carefully.

Q: More specific please?
A: There are EIGHT buttons, one for each direction of the
compass. Press the corresponding one in the map, and when you
finish, X will mark the spot.

Q: So how do I get rid of Slappy Cromwell so I can dig at the X?
A: He's about to do the juggling act... And apparently he'll use
the cannonballs... See a way to... sabotage him? (Check your
inventory)

Q: Uh... lubrication?
A: Exactly! Chicken grease on the cannonballs!

Q: So Slappy and the other flew off stage... Now what?
A: Start digging.

Cutscene: All right, the crew is here, the ship is here, the map
is here, and Elaine is here... So, it's off the Blood Island you
go!

4.3 PART 3: THREE SHEETS TO THE WIND

Cutscene: Rottingham, now bald (thanks to you), wants the map to
Blood Island for himself... As he wants that huge diamond that
you mentioned. And your sword fighting (combined with insult) is
just NOT good enough yet... He got the map...

After that, your crew starts singing pirate song... And whatever
you say to them, they reply with a stanza that rhymes...

4.3.1 Pirate Song

Q: How do I get them to shut up?
A: Well, their reply rhymes, right? So... can you find something
that doesn't rhyme?

Q: Hmmm... But I don't see any...
A: Keep picking choices until you can find one that does NOT
rhyme with anything.

Q: All right, what does NOT rhyme?
A: Orange.

4.3.2 After the Pirate Song...

A: Defeat one of the other pirates running around with sea
battles and sword fights, and you'll get a full hold of booty.
Then go back to port and get better cannons. Some pirates are
more capable than others.

4.3.3 Sea Battles

See [2.3.2]

4.3.4 Sword Fight (except Rottingham)

See [2.3.3]

Except... These pirates use more insults than the "normal" level,
and have more comebacks.

Fight each one multiple times so you can learn all their insults
and comebacks.

4.3.5 Sword Fight with Rottingham

See [2.3.4]

Rottingham requires at least FOUR points to beat on the
MegaMonkey level.

After you beat Rottingham, it's off to Blood Island!

Cutscene: Except you run into this storm... And then...

4.4 PART 4 : THE BARTENDER, THE THIEVES, HIS AUNT AND HER LOVER

You are now on Blood Island... Haggis and crew have mutinied. You
are on your own again. Elaine's statue is out there somewhere...

Feel free to explore the island a bit, and talk to everyone that
you can. There are essentially the following locations: beach,
clearing (Elaine), cemetery, undertaker, hotel (multiple
locations inside), windmill, cove, lighthouse, and village.

The puzzles are essentially as follows: you need to get the
cursed ring OFF Elaine, and you need to locate the OTHER ring on
this island. Of course, there are a LOT of things to do before
you can do that.

4.4.1 Beach

Q: How do I get the lotion from Haggis?
A: You'll need to find him something as good as tar to fix the
ship.

HINT: Talk to him a bit for more clues.

Q: What do I need the lotion for?
A: Haggis DID say it's VERY greasy and slippery...

HINT: Grab the bottle off the ground before you leave.

4.4.2 Hotel

Locations: lobby, storage room, upstairs (two more rooms)

Q: What do I do in the storage room?
A: You need some cheese. (Trust me)

Q: How do I get some cheese? It's too big/hard!

See one that cures
hangovers?

Q: Where do I find hair of dog who bit me?

A: You see a dog somewhere in your exploration?

Q: Uh, no?
A: Try the undertaker (beyond the graveyard/crypt).

Q: But he won't bite me.
A: Try feeding him something.

Q: Where do I find the egg?
A: It's on the beach near the lighthouse.

Family Crypt, and ocate the Flying Welshman. Together, they will
help you solve the other problems.

4.4.3 Solving the Volcano

So why isn't the volcano spewing any more lava? Guess you'll have
to visit that "village"...

Talk to Lemonhead for ALL you need to know... Really. He explains
EVERYTHING.

Q: What do I do in the village?
A: Grab all the items you can.

Q: What do I do with the block of tofu?
A: Well, it is as big as your head... Talk to Lemonhead over
there for some clues.

A: *Sigh* with a chisel or auger. (Both would work)

Cutscene: Watch the cutscene, where they sacrifice the veggies to
the volcano...

Q: Now what?
A: What did Lemonhead say about the mountain?

Q: Uh... Cheese causes heartburn?

Q: Uh... yellow tar?
A: Bingo!

(Yep, take pot of melted cheese back to Haggis, and you can get
the lotion. Then go take that cursed ring off Elaine. )

4.4.4 Getting into the Crypt

Q: Okay, what do I need to get into the crypt?

A: The bartender already told you.

Q: You mean... die?
A: Well, sort of. Come very close to it, in fact.

Q: I don't believe you.
A: Go to the fortune teller, and ask her to do your future... And
see for yourself. In fact, do it five times in a row to be REALLY
sure.

HINT: Grab the five death cards when your fortune's told.

Q: So, how do I do it?
A: Remember the old adage that says, "don't mix medicine with
alcohol"?

Q: I still don't understand.
A: *SIGH* Spike your drink with that Head-B-Clear potion you
concocted earlier for the bartender.

Q: And which drink should I pick?
A: Preferably the one with an umbrella. :-) But it doesn't
really matter yet.

Q: How do I use the Head-B-Clear? I can't open it!
A: Use the chisel to open it.

Cutscene: So you're now in a coffin in the crypt...

4.4.5 The Crypt (Not!)

Q: How do I get out?
A: Use the chisel.

NOTE: Get the nails while you're at it, or come back later.

Q: Uh, what's the noise I hear?
A: It's coming from the center coffin.

Q: So?
A: Open it and see.

It's Stan! Stan the... (never mind).

Q: What do I do now?
A: Go back to the hotel and complain...

4.4.6 Hotel Again

Q: What do I do now?
A: Complain to the bartender.

Q: All right, how do I become a member of the Goodsoup family?

A: Guess you'll have to memorize a bit of family history...

Q: Where will I find this family history?
A: Try upstairs, in the other room.

Q: It's locked.
A: Ever heard of the trick about using a card to jimmy open the
door?

Q: Uh, what card would that be?
A: Stan just gave you one.

Q: Uh, there's nothing in the room.
A: "Use" the bed.

Q: But I can't grab the book! The bed closes immediately!
A: Guess you'll have to find something to nail the bed down...

Q: Where are the nails?
A: At your original coffin. (You did get it, didn't you?)

Q: But that's not enough!
A: What holds up portraits?

Q: Uh, nails?
A: Yep, see some around you?

Q: Uh, no?
A: *Sigh* Inside that first room.

Q: I see it... How do I get it?
A: *SIGH* Pound it with your mallet. Then go outside and grab it.

Q: What about the portrait?
A: You'll need that too. Grab it.

Q: What do I do with it?
A: Remember the "cutouts" where the face is cut out and it just
leaves a hole?

Q: Oh, so...
A: Use the scissors on the portrait.

Q: What do I do what's left?
A: Well, there is this "hole" on the first door...

Q: So, put it on?
A: Yep... Put the portrait on the door, then go in the other
side, and mess with Griswald's head.

Q: What do I do with the face?
A: There's a mirror next to Griswald's bartender station, right?

Q: Oh, I see...

A: Yep, put that there.

Q: I've convinced the bartender that I'm a Goodsoup. Now what?
A: Well, I guess you'll just need to "die" again...

HINT: Before you die, go see Stan (in the graveyard).

You don't need me to repeat the procedure now, do you?

4.4.7 Goodsoup Crypt

You're now in the Goodsoup Crypt... Walk left...

Talk to the bride for some clues on what to do.

Q How do I get out?
A: The only person you can access is Mort, the undertaker (you
can see him through the crack).

Q: So how do I convince him to release me?
A: Well, Murray keeps talking about scaring people... So perhaps
you can oblige him.

Q: How do I do that?
A: Ever try... shadow puppets?

Q: You mean, put a lamp behind your hand, and make funky shadows
with your hands?
A: Yep...

Q: Uh, where do I get a lantern?
A: Get it from Mort.

Q: Uh... How do I do that?
A: You still have that skeleton arm from Part 1, right?

Q: It won't catch hold.
A: Make the arm stickier.

Q: Uh, how?
A: *Sigh* You have glue, don't you?

Q: I got the lantern. Now what?
A: *Sigh* Put the lantern on the coffin before the crack. Then
use Murray on the lantern.

Q: That did not work! Help!
A: On the LANTERN, NOT THE CRACK IN THE WALL!

Q: Where do I go now?
A: Go to Stan's place, if you haven't been there.

Q: Why do I do there?

A: Why don't you buy one from him, whatever he's selling?

Q: What do I pay him with?
A: Well, there's this "treasure" you found before...

Q: Oh, that one I impressed Bill with?
A: Yep.

Q: Now what?
A: Back to the hotel.

4.4.8 Hotel yet again

Q: What do I do here?
A: The storage room has your "death certificate". You can use
that to collect some money from Stan. So go there and collect
from him, for "a lot of money".

Q: Now what?
A: How to send the groom to the bride?

Q: Uh, who's the groom?
A: You see any skeletons lying around? (Minnie told you...)

4.4.9 Flying Welshman

Q: How do I find the flying Welshman?

A: Remember the story the Bartender told you? (Go back and ask
him again if you don't remember.)

Q: So what do I do?
A: You summon The Flying Welshman by fixing the lighthouse.

Q: Uh, how do I do that?
A: Go examine the lighthouse a bit.

Q: It is missing a lantern, and the mirror's broken.
A: Guess you'll need to make a lantern, and find a replacement
mirror.

Q: The door's locked.
A: Do the Don Quixote thing.

Q: Huh?
A: *Sigh* Use the umbrella on the windmill... And you'll "fly" up
there.

Q: The fireflies die before I can do anything!
A: Did you leave them some air to breathe?

Q: Huh?
A: *Sigh* Did you poke any holes in the lid so they can breath?

Put the jar with sugar water on that tree stump next to the
statue, and the fireflies will move in. Put the cap on, and take
it back to the lighthouse...

Q: The Lighthouse glows now, but I still don't see the Flying
Welshman.
A: Did you do the mirror?

Q: Flying Welshman won't take me to Skull Island!
A: Guess you'll need to make him a compass.

Q: How do I do that?
A: Try reading that encyclopedia you got from the snake's inside.

Q: So where do I find a needle, a cork, magnet, and a cup?
A: You already have the needle (the voodoo one). Cork... You
should already have that as well, from opening an existing bottle
of shaving soap. Magnet... It's in the hotel stroage room on the
refrigerator. The cup... Is that measuring cup in the village
feast. You just need some water.

You don't need me to explain how to combine the whole thing, do
you?

Q: How do I open that existing bottle?
A: Check the interaction menu... "bite" is the answer.

4.4.10 Skull Island

Q: What do I do with LaFoot?
A: Well, guess he'll try to lower you down to the cave
entrance...

Q: Ugh! Oooh! Arrgh! Ouch! The pain!
A: Well, guess you need to make a softer landing...

Q: Huh?
A: Do the Mary Poppins thing.

Q: You mean... Umbrella?
A: Yep... Pull out the Umbrella while you fall... Quickly!

If you fall, just go up there and try again.

Just talk to King Andre... It doesn't really matter much what you
say, as long as you don't quit, though if you did not bring the
insurance money, you'll need to use something else as your
stakes.

Just watch the cutscene as LaFoot manage to give you the chance
to escape with the Diamond, and you get your "revenge".

And another cutscene, as LeChuck figures out where you are...

4.4.11 Back to Blood Island.

Okay, you got the diamond, the band, so go see Elaine... Assemble
the ring, and put it on her finger...

Cutscene: Voila! She's back to normal! And she punched you...
Then LeChuck's undead goons showed up...

4.5 PART 5: KISS OF THE SPIDER MONKEY

Guybrush is held prisoner in this cable car rigged with
explosives... Feel free to chat with LeChuck about anything and
everything, though it doesn't really matter very much. It is
funny listening to all that though.

Any way, when you say you've heard enough, LeChuck hits you with
some evil magic....

Q: What do I do now?
A: Open the door of the cable car.

4.5.1 In the Carnival

Q: Now what?
A: You need to get on the rollercoaster.

Q: But how? Dinghy Dog (tm) won't let me!
A: Guess you'll have to grow back to original size first.

Q: And how do I do that?
A: Well, you still have this hang-over recipe... Can you get sort-
of-close to it?

Q: So what do I use in place of an egg?
A: Is there something that is at least made of egg?

Q: I have no idea...
A: Talk to the rat guy...

An anchor?
A: Well, that's about the only thing you COULD get that's heavy
enough... (Try asking for other items...)

Q: So how do I get the anchor?
A: You'll have to win that little game with Dinghy Dog (tm)...

Q: Which game is that?

A: *Sigh* guess the weight.

Q: But that Rat guy won't let me put it in!
A: Well, maybe you can, uh... make a fake pie.

Q: I have a pie pan, so...
A: You got something that'll make white foam?

Q: Wait, you don't mean...
A: "Makes a soothing lather" and all that...

Q: I still don't get it...
A: *Sigh* That "Shaving Soap" you got from the wreck on the
beach...

Q: I got the pie, now what?
A: Put the anchor in the pie.

Q: He won't let me!
A: You'll have to MAKE him a pie then...

Q: Huh?
A: What is pie made of?

Q: Meringue. So what?
A: Wrong. Pie is made of white fluffy stuff.

Q: I don't see where you're going with this...
A: Is there something in your inventory that also makes white
fluffy stuff?

Q: Wait... shaving soap/cream?
A: Bingo!

So make a fake pie, with the anchor in it, and make sure Rat dude
try it...

A: *Sigh* Push Dinghy Dog (tm) many times.

Q: How many?
A: In this mode? Six or seven.

Q: Where's the pepper?
A: There's a pepper mill at the snowcone booth.

Q: So what do I put all the stuff on?
A: Since you can't have a real drink, guess a snowcone it'll have
to be.

Enjoy the snowcone... And POP! You're back to normal size!

4.6 PART 6: GUYBRUSH KICKS BUTT AGAIN

You're riding the coaster, and you've arrived at exhibit 1, with
hangman and rope. The coaster moves in a circle, as you get four
exhibits. Exhibit 2 is drinking and carousing (with real kegs of
rum). Exhibit 3 is torture scene with lamp. Exhibit 4 is giant
snow monkey exhibit. Then you get back to exhibit 1 again.

If you stay at one exhibit too long (more than one or two carts
went by), LeChuck will come by and hurry you along.

Q: Too hot! Ouch!
A: Well, guess you'll need to extinguish the flame first.

Q: How do I extinguish the flame?
A: How would you do it to a candle?

Q: Where do I put everything?
A: Exhibit 4.

Q: LeChuck's here. Now what?
A: Make him sneeze.

Q: You mean...
A: Yep, pepper.

Congratulations, you've beaten LeChuck yet again, and now can
really enjoy the time with Elaine!

5 Mega Monkey Walkthrough

This is every step you need to take to solve the game. You
probably do NOT have to perform everything in order given here,
but I can't guarantee it would work in any other order either.

5.1 PROLOGUE

Cutscene: Guybrush is in the ocean and floating along... and ran
into LeChuck attacking the fort... And he's taken onboard
LeChuck's ship...

5.2 PART 1: THE DEMISE OF LECHUCK

5.2.1 Gun Room

Use the rampart/hook and pick up the skeleton
arm (with cutlass), and talk a bit with Murray, the talking skull
or knock him over.

And you.

5.2.2 Treasure Room

You are now in LeChuck's treasure room... Except it's now upside
down. Treasure is dumped everywhere. There's a hole in the
"ceiling", and there's a porthole to your right. There are lots
of misc. items on the floor.

Get the brown bag next to the portrait. Get the diamond ring
that's revealed. Use the diamond ring with the porthole (cut a
hole in it).

Cutscene: You float out of the ship and made it to shore... And
you put the ring on Elaine's finger as engagement gift... Then
Wally comes along and told you that the ring you got is probably
LeChuck's cursed ring. Before Elaine can punch you, she turns
into a statue of gold!

5.3 PART 2: THE CURSE GETS WORSE

5.3.1 Beach

You are on the beach. To left is Puerto Pollo. To right is the
jungle/swamp.

Grab some of the embers on the beach.

FUN ITEM: Try the "secret button" on the bridge.

Head into the swamp.

5.3.2 Swamp

Talk to Murray again, then continue into the ship.

5.3.3 Voodoo Lady's Lounge

You are at the Voodoo Lady's Lounge. There's a gum vending
machine to your left, alligator to your right, and paper doll
with voodoo pin to far right.

Get the voodoo pin on the paper doll. Get the glue pot as well.

Only to find a pirate ship has just stolen Elaine and is sailing
away. You return to her.

Talk to the voodoo lady about whatever you want. Keep talking to
the Voodoo Lady for more information. You'll basically need to
find Blood Island, locate an uncursed ring to break the curse. To
get there, you'll need a crew, map to Blood Island, and a ship.

You now know what to do. Head back to beach.

Grab the embers if you haven't yet.

Head into Puerto Pollo.

5.3.4 Puerto Pollo

Puerto Pollo is a pretty wide town. Start from left, you get
Lenny's Lemonade Stand, closed passage, Blondebeard's Chicken n'
Things, Town Hall / Theater (with side entrance), exit to Cabana
Club, and Barbery Coast.

Head into the Town Hall / Theater Dressing Room.

5.3.5 Theater Dressing Room

You're in the dressing room. You see a mirror/table with items on
it, chest, jackets, various stage props, and a staircase up
leading to the lighting control room.

Pick up the "dandruff" on the Civil War Coat (take a closer look
at it first).

Pick up the glove from the coat as well (Examine the pocket).

Pick up the magic wand and use it with the magic hat. Pick up the
ventriloquism book that appears.

Exit room. Go to Barbery Coast (at the docks)

5.3.6 Barbery Coast

Get the paperweight holding down the book. When Haggis runs off
to find another paperweight, keep using the handle until the
chair is high enough for you to nab the scissors. You'll lower
yourself and Haggis comes back. Forget about the haircut...

Use the glove on Van Gelder, the thin suave pirate, which
challenges him to a duel. You arrive at the field of honor.

Close the middle pistol box. Open the banjo case behind.

This banjo duel is basically a cute version of "Simon", or
"repeat after me". Van Helgan will play single notes after a few
chords. Remember them, and repeat them when it's your turn.

After the third or fourth attempt to beat you, he will start
playing some SERIOUS riffs. Go to the pistol case and pick up a
pistol. Shoot the banjo in his hand.

Van Geldar will be impressed by your low tactic and joins your
crew. You'll return to the barbershop.

FUNNY ITEM: For fun, ask the three pirates that you want to join
up and form a barbershop quartet.

Leave the barbershop and go to the blocked passage right next to
Blondebeard's Chicken n' Things.

5.3.7 Passage Way

Use the scissors with the blocked passage between Lenny's
Lemonade and Blondebeard's place. Read the signs while you're at
it.

Get the flower (Ipecac). (Cut it, then you'll grab it).

Continue cutting, and you'll walk further into the passage...

5.3.8 Snake Crossing

Go ahead and read the sign. It says "snake..."

Cutscene: a snake ate you!

You're now inside the snake. Pick up the Faberge Egg, vacuum
cleaner attachments, and lots o' stuff, and everything else you
can find inside the snake.

Use the flower on the syrup to make Ipecac syrup. Then use the
syrup on the snake (snake's head to be exact).

The snake will spit you out, and you end up in...

5.3.9 Quicksand pit

You're now stuck in the quicksand pit.

Use the helium balloon with the paperweight (creates a floating
baloon).

Blow the balloon (click and hold button to pop up action palette,
then pick blow) and it will go in place next to the tree.

Pick up a thorn from the thorny plant.

Pick up the reed from the side.

Use the thorn with the hollow reed in your inventory to create a
peashooter (blowgun).

Use the peashooter with the balloon, and you'll get to the vine,
and escape to Danjer Cove.

5.3.10 Danger Cove

Leave Danjer Cove for the moment and return to Puerto Pollo, and
go to Blondebeard's Chicken n' Things.

5.3.11 Blondebeard's Chicken n' Things

You're at Blondebear's Chicken n' Things. You can read the menu,
doesn't say much. :-) There's a table at lower right with a quiet
patron.

Give Blondebeard your reservation slip. Talk to him for a LOT of
information. Blondebeard will mention that he lost his Club
Cabana membership card.

Grab a biscuit. Eat biscuit. (Eeek!)

Go over to the quiet patron. Push the quiet patron. (Eeek!) He is
a Grim-Fandango skeleton! Get the serrated knife out of the back
of the patron.

Put the maggots on the chicken. They'll eat the exterior and
leave the bones. Get the club card in the ribcage of the chicken.

Head to the Club Cabana (that arch next to the Town Hall).

5.3.12 Club Cabana Boy

You're at the Club Cabana, at the hot dog stand.

Show the club card to the Cabana Boy. He is NOT pleased.

Pick up three towels from the pile.

Dip one in the ice bucket, make it wet.

Use one of the towels with the cabana boy. (Wet towel whip!)

Pick up the bottle of cooking oil (you'll need it) and go onto
the beach.

5.3.13 Brimstone Beach

You're on the beach, and on the far end is Palido Domingo, the
agent of Slappy Cromwell, the performer at 'Speare! However, you
can't walk across the sand... it's too hot!

Put the three wet towels on the hot sand, one at a time, to form
a path to Palido over there.

5.3.14 Beach 2

You're now next to Palido Domingo, the extremely UN-tan guy.

Go ahead and talk to him. He has the map to Blood Island tattooed
on his back... But he refuse to turn over. However, he doesn't
want to get burned. He tells you to get him more drinks.

Grab his mug, open the gate near him, and exit the beach.

Head back to Puerto Pollo, and stop at Lenny's Lemonade Stand.

5.3.15 Lenny's Lemonade Stand

Feel free to try Lenny's "bottomless mug" policy once... give him
a wooden nickel. Now you understand the trick.

Swap his bottomless mug with the mug you got from Palido.

Buy another lemonade from him, and this time you get to drink it.
He'll run off.

Take the pitcher. You already got the bottomless mug.

Next to the stand (to the right) is a vat of red dye. Fill the
pitcher with it.

Head back to Brimstone Beach.

5.3.16 Brimstone Beach again

Put the bottomless mug on Palido.

Use the pitcher on the mug (filling it).

The dye will seep out and color his front... Sure looks burned!
And he'll turn over.

Use the cooking oil on his back... Then get the map (eeek!)

Exit the beach, and go to the "field of honor" (near the grassy
knoll).

5.3.17 Field of Honor

At the field of honor, head just "behind" the grassy knoll
(slightly up).

5.3.18 Grassy Knoll

Use the serrated knife on the sawhorse (holding up the barrel).
The barrel will roll to the tree.

Use the ember to light the trail of rum.

KABOOM! There's a new log (of rubber tree!) and you're back in
town... Head to the Barbery Coast again.

5.3.19 Barbery Coast

Challenge Haggis, and he'll want you to beat him at the ancient
Scott contest of caber toss... So go there, and you'll get to use
that rubber trunk... And you win automatically!

You'll end up back at the Barbery Coast.

Slap Bill in the back ("use" him). He'll choke, and you'll do the
Heimlich maneuver on him. He'll spit out a jawbreaker. Grab it.

Talk to Bill (the third pirate) and see what he wants in order to
join you. He wants to see some treasure.

Go to Blondebeard's again.

5.3.20 Blondebeard's Chicken n' Things

If you talked to Blondebeard a lot last time, you should have
realized he has a gold tooth.

Give him the jawbreaker (to work it loose). He then asks for
something chewy.

Give him the steak-flavored bubble gum (you got from the voodoo
lady's lounge).

When he blows a bubble, pop the bubble with your voodoo pin.

Get the gold tooth from the ground where it was dropped.

Chew a piece of the gum yourself.

Add the gold tooth to the chewed gum.

Use the helium balloon (so you get a breath of it).

Chew the "chewed gum" with gold tooth, and you'll blow a bubble
with the gold tooth in it, and it'll escape out the window!
You'll just have to find it... As Blondbeard WILL search you.

Grab the cookie cutter and pie pan.

Go outside. Use pie pan on the mud puddle next to the entrance,
and you'll get the gold tooth back.

Take it to Bill at Barbery Coast and show him. He'll join you.

Now all you need is the ship... So head to Danjer Cove

5.3.21 Danjer Cove

You see this boat on the beach, and a ship in the distance.
(There's nothing at the waterfall.)

There's a big hole in the boat. You'll need something to plug it.

Go to the field of honor, and use the cookie cutter on the
remaining rubber tree. You'll get a "rubber plug". Return to the
cove.

Add glue to the plug, then put the combo on the hole. The boat is
now patched.

Get into the boat and use it. You'll end up next to the ship.

Before you head up, CUT the plank (use serrated knife on plank).

Head up to the pirate ship.

5.3.22 Pirate Ship, the Sea Cucumber

You got on, and you get to talk to this Mr. Fossey... It doesn't
really matter what you say, but you'll get tar and feathered
(since you cut off the plank). And you end up at the beach, now
looking like a giant chicken...

Head to Blondebeard's place again.

5.3.23 Blondebeard's Place

The second you head in... Blondebeard mistakes you for El Pollo
Diablo, the legendary giant chicken! Then he knocks you cold...

5.3.24 Back on Sea Cucumber, Captain's Cabin

You're in the Captain's Cabin, inside a big chicken pot, onboard
the Sea Cucumber. The grease has washed off all your tar and
feathers, then you realize Fossey is a complete loon... As his
captain is a gorilla!

Use the ventriloquism book with Captain LeChimp. That'll convince
him to leave with the crew.

Once Fossey goes, you will take the map automatically. You can go
outside, but there's no way out.

Use the porthole to open it, and exit that way.

You're back at the beach. Head back into town, and go to the town
hall / theater.

5.3.25 Theater

You're at the dressing room. You can go right and see the
performance, but it's a pretty lousy one. You'll return
automatically to the dressing room any way.

Go upstairs to the lighting room.

Look at the treasure map, and note the directions. Look at the
control panel, and push the buttons according to the directions.
When you're done, the lights will form an X on the stage. Head
back down to dressing room.

You got the map and all three pirates, and the ship, so it's off
the second CD you go...

5.4 PART 3: THREE SHEETS TO THE WIND

Cutscene: Rene Rottingham will board your ship and take your map
as he beat you in the swordfight (combined with insults).

You need to get it back from him... If only your crew will
cooperate...

5.4.1 Pirate Songs

Your crew broke into song, and they are using your sentence as a
basis for rhyme!

Keep choosing various choices until you get the one that ends in
"orange". Since nothing rhymes with orange, that ends their
singing spree.

5.4.2 Sea Battles

Please see section [2.3.2]. This is real-time battle and thus
would have no 'walkthru'.

5.4.3 Sword Fights (except with Rottingham)

Please see section [2.3.3]

5.4.4 Sword Fight with Rottingham

Please see section [2.3.4]

So you got the map, and you're sailing to Blood Island, and you
run into this big storm... and...

5.5 PART 4: THE BARTENDER, THE THIEVES, HIS AUNT, AND HER LOVER

You woke up on Blood Island. The ship is busted. Haggis and
others have mutinied, and you're on your own again.

5.5.1 Beach

Ask Haggis about the lotion. It's quite slippery, so you'll need
it to get the ring off Elaine. Haggis needs something similar to
tar to fix the ship. Keep this in mind. He'll give you the lotion
after you hand over the tar substitute.

Pick up the bottle on the ground. Head on inland, and go to
hotel.

5.5.2 Hotel

Hotel has storage room, madam Xima the fortuneteller, the
bartender with a bad hangover, and stairway.

The bartender needs a hangover cure... Read the recipe book next
to him. There's a hangover cure in there... It needs egg, pepper,
and "hair of dog that bites". Guess you'll have to go find some.

Get the cushion while you're at it. Exit the hotel and go to the
cemetery.

5.5.3 Cemetery

Walk past the two crypts to the undertaker.

5.5.4 Undertaker

Pick up the mallet and chisel.

Give that half-eaten biscuit to the dog. Dog will "bite" you.

Pick up some hair from the dog.

Leave the undertaker and go to the windmill.

5.5.5 Windmill

Next to the windmill are pepper plants... Grab a pepper.

Head to the beach near the lighthouse.

5.5.6 Beach

The cove has a sign, and paths that leads to other parts of the
island. You'll see this egg on this rubber tree.

Put the cushion on the ground.

Use mallet on the tree, and egg will drop on the cushion. You can
then grab it.

Go back to the hotel.

5.5.7 Hotel

Give the three ingredients to the bartender, and he'll wake up.
He'll also give you a bottle of that stuff, called Head-B-Clear.
Keep it. Use the chisel on it to open it.

5.5.8 Storage Room

Use chisel on the cheese wheel for lots of cheese. Get the
refrigerator magnet as well.

Exit the hotel, and get just outside the hotel. Explore right,
and you'll see the barbeque with a big pot. This is where the
bartender said where the lava used to flow and cook things. Put
some cheese in the pot. It's for later.

Go to the "village" next to the volcano.

5.5.9 Village

The village has two parts, the main "buffet" part, and the
"secret" part.

At the buffet part, get the block of tofu, then move right, and
grab the measuring cup and auger (what the heck is an auger?)

Use chisel on tofu to make a mask. Wear the mask.

Continue down the path, and talk to Lemonhead. Watch the
"sacrifice".

When sacrifice is over, drop some cheese off the side of
platform. The volcano will spew lava again.

Head back to hotel.

5.5.10 Outside the Hotel

Pick up the big pot, now containing melted cheese.

Take it to Haggis on the beach. You can then get the lotion.

Take the lotion to Elaine's statue.

5.5.11 Clearing

Use the lotion on the ring finger.

Use the ring (to get it off). The ring disappears. That's one
third of the job done.

Note the fireflies... Remember that. Go back to the hotel.

5.5.12 Hotel

The Bartender already told you how you can get into the family
crypt... You need to DIE.

Have Madam Xima tell your fortune... Five death cards in a row,
heh? Take the 5 death cards.

Ask the bartender for a drink, one with an umbrella is good.

Use chisel with bottle of head-b-clear (to open it) if you
haven't done so. Spike the drink with head-b-clear.

Drink it and you'll "die".

5.5.13 Crypt

This is, unfortunately, NOT the Goodsoup family crypt.

Use chisel on coffin to get out.

Grab all those nails while you're at it.

Use chisel on center coffin, and out comes Stan the salesman!
He'll yak and yak, when he ask you to leave, go ahead. He'll also
give you a business card.

You're now in the graveyard. Head back to the hotel, and head
upstairs.

5.5.14 Hotel Upstairs

The left room is closed, the right room is locked.

Go in the left room, and you see this nail on the wall. Pound the
nail with your mallet.

Go back out and grab the nail, and the portrait. Guybrush will
get rid of the frame.

Use scissors on the portrait, and you'll end up with portrait
(with hole) and face.

Put the portrait on the door, over the porthole in the door. Then
go in the room and you'll freak out Griswald.

Use the business card to jimmy the lock on the right room

Use the bed (pull it down). Use your nails on the bed. Use your
last nail on the bed.

Grab the book on the skeleton. It's Goodsoup family history.

Go back downstairs, and head to the cemetery.

5.5.15 Cemetery

The main crypt now has Stan's sign all over it. Head inside, and
talk to him... He's selling... life insurance!

Go ahead and buy one. Give him gold tooth for the purchase price.

5.5.16 Hotel Lobby

Talk to the bartender, and he'll tell you that you need to be
Goodsoup family member to be buried in the Goodsoup crypt.

With the family history, you can pretend to be a family member...
Say what you want.

When you're ready, order another drink (the umbrella one if you
haven't done so), spike it, and die again.

5.5.17 Goodsoup Family Crypt

You're on the right side. There is no way out.

FUNNY ITEM: Look through the crack for a bit of "retrospective".

Go left and you'll walk past the ghost bride. Talk to her for
some clues. Continue left to the end coffin.

Go ahead and look around... There's this crack you can look
through that shows you a screen from an old LucasArts game!

Get the crowbar. Murray will scare the **** out of you again.

Pick up Murray.

Look through the crack and you'll see Mort, the undertaker, in
bed.

Put glue on the skeleton arm, and use that to grab the lantern.

Put lantern on the coffin.

Use Murray on lantern... and you'll scare the **** out of Mort!
Now you can get out of the crypt!

Go back to hotel.

5.5.18 Hotel Again

Go into storage room. Get death certificate.

Head upstairs, go into second room.

Use crowbar on the hole (boarded up).

Use crowbar on the bed.

Cutscene: POW! Charles is delivered to his bride!

Grab the band and exit the crypt.

5.5.19 Graveyard

Head inside Stan's new office, and give him the death certificate
to get your insurance claim... You get "a lot of money".

Now all you need is to find the diamond, and that means you need
to locate the Flying Welshman... But that means you need to fix
the lighthouse. You have an idea...

Go to the Hotel

5.5.20 Hotel

Get the tip jar.

Use chisel on it and open it.

Go to windmill.

5.5.21 Windmill

Use umbrella on the blades, and you'll get up there.

On the top, use the jar with that barrel of sugar water. You'll
get a little. Come back down (you can go through the door this
time).

Go to the clearing where Elaine is.

5.5.22 Clearing

Put the jar with sugar water on that tree stump. Fireflies will
go in.

Pick it up and close the jar with the lid. Poke some holes on the
lid if you haven't done so.

Go to the lighthouse.

5.5.23 Lighthouse.

Continue up and put the "lantern" in the spot for it.

Also replace the broken mirror with the good mirror.

Come back down to the cove.

5.5.24 Cove

You see the Flying Welshman there. Ask him, and he'll demand a
compass. Do you remember how to make one? (Consult your
encyclopedia if you're not sure).

Use the measuring cup with seawater.

Use the voodoo pin with the cork.

Use magnet on cork/pin.

Use the magnetized cork and pin with measuring cup.

Give the finished compass to the Lost Welshman.

Talk to him and ask him to take you to Skull Island.

5.5.25 Skull island

After a little skit, you will find yourself at the top of Skull
Island. Talk to the winch operator LaFoot. Ask him to lower you
down into the smuggler's cave.

5.5.26 Clearing

Put the diamond in the engagement band to form a complete ring.

Put the ring on Elaine's ring finger.

Cutscene: Elaine finishes the punch, then you get to explain the
problem, and how you solved it... Just as you share a well-
deserved hug, LeChuck's undead pirates arrived!

5.6 PART 5: THE KISS OF THE SPIDER MONKEY

You're in a cable car loaded with explosives... Elaine is tied
up, and LeChuck is boasting again. Feel free to talk with LeChuck
for lots of humorous dialogue. When you're done, tell him you're
not listening any more, and he'll turn you into a kid.

5.6.1 Cable Car

Okay, how would you get out?

"Use" the door. Really, that's it.

However, you've shrunk!

5.6.2 Amusement Park

He'll fail, and you get to pick
the anchor.

Put the anchor in the meringue pie, and the Rat guy will yell at
you. You'll need to find another way.

You have the pie pan, and the shaving soap, so you can make a
FAKE pie, and put the anchor in there. Put that new pie in the
stack. Then you'll convince Rat guy to try the cannon again.
Voila, no more clown!

Go to that little "gate", open it. Use that little window, and
you'll get a pie in the face. There's meringue.

To get dog hair, push Dinghy Dog (tm) SEVEN times in a row.

5.7 PART 6: GUYBRUSH KICKS BUTT ONCE AGAIN

You arrive at the first exhibit... hangman.

Jump off and grab the rope.

Jump back in the car to head onto next exhibit.

If you dawdle (at any exhibit), LeChuck will come along and hurry
you along.

The next exhibit is about rum...

Jump off and grab one keg of rum.

Jump back in the car to head onto next exhibit.

Third exhibit is boring except for that lamp.

Jump off and use the lamp to open it. Blow on the lamp to
extinguish it, and you can get the "oil pan".

Jump back in the car to head onto the final exhibit.

Jump off, and walk up slope to that huge monkey.

Use rum on monkey's hand.

Use rope on lamp (soak it in oil)

Use rope on rum (stretch it out and it's now a fuse)

Come back down and LeChuck should show up. He'll threaten to burn
you.

Pull out your pepper and use it on LeChuck. You'll blow some
pepper in his face, and he'll sneeze, igniting the fuse. You
jumped into the next car... And... Kaboom! LeChuck's buried
(again!)

Cutscene: Congratulations... You've defeated LeChuck and married
Elaine, finally!
