Pegasus Prime FAQ (Mac Version)
Technical Support / Known Issues
You may experience delays when moving from one location to the next, or pauses while the program loads data from the CD-ROM. It is highly recommended that you view the information in the manual and README file for further information on optimizing your computer's performance.
After successfully completing the retinal scan in Norad, the cursor displays a zoom icon. Clicking the zoom icon re-initiates the retinal scan sequence.
After clicking on an active object, such as a selection on a monitor, you may notice that the cursor disappears. By simply moving the mouse around, the cursor should reappear.
General Program Questions
- How does Pegasus Prime fit into the Journeyman Series?
- Pegasus Prime is a classic retelling of the best-selling CD-ROM that started it all. Based on the compelling story of the original Journeyman Project, the graphics and gameplay have been completely recrafted to show off the awesome power of the hottest new game technology. Fully-animated motion through eye-popping environments, intensely realistic robot adversaries, and not-to-be-believed new gameplay sequences are just a few of the substantial improvements.
- Does the program's performance have an affect time within the game?
- In some instances there may be an activity that needs to be completed within a designated amount of time. If your system is busy loading data, it may impede your progress. It is recommended that you optimize your system for the best performance.
- Do I need to complete the Time Zones in a specific order?
- Although there is a sequence in which the Time Zones need to be completed, you have full freedom to move about each time zone freely. Remember that upon entering a time zone, you will always return to the same spot in time, so you may need to repeat some actions.
- Can I transport back to any location within a time zone?
- No. Whenever you transport to a mission environment via Pegasus (Prehistoric, Mars, Norad, WSC), you will always be transported into the same location and direction every time. If you explore a time zone for a while but do not complete the time zone, you will have to transport back to the beginning point of that zone.
- Can you miss an object in a time zone and then be unable to complete a mission?
- No. You may find your progress temporarily halted, however you can use the Pegasus biochip to "recall" you back to TSA. From there, you can continue on to another time zone.
- Can I control the movement of the tunnel pod or shuttle on the Mars Colony or the sub in Norad?
- No. The computer automatically controls these three vessels.
- When I accumulate more than nine object in my inventory, one object is removed to make room for new item. Will I need to use the deleted item again later on in the game?
- No. Although some objects will be used at a later time, and possibly more than once, Pegasus Prime automatically removes objects whose function is complete and are no longer needed:
Priority Object
Beverage Glass
Poison Dart (removes itself upon use; only after analysis
Journeyman Key (only after opening the Prehistoric vault)
Access Card
Nitrogen Canister (only after deactivating Mars bomb game)
Power crowbar
Oxygen Mask
Items that will not allow you to use Pegasus if they are in your possession and will ultimately lead to your death:
Gas Canister
Assault Rifle
Items that can never be removed:
Argon canister
Office keycard
Card keyring
Antidote
Stun Gun
Card Bomb
Historical log (removes itself upon use)
- How is the game structured over the series of 4 discs?
- Pegasus Prime does not store the game as sections of a linear story. Instead, each disc contains time zone environments in the following manner:
Disc 1 Caldoria (Apartment Complex), Norad Alpha, TSA [Temporal Security Annex] (small) + Installer
Disc 2 Prehistoric, TSA (full)
Disc 3 Mars, TSA (small)
Disc 4 WSC [World Science Center], Norad Delta, TSA (small)
- What is the 'Gandhi' bonus?
- The 'Gandhi' bonus is given to players who successfully complete all three missions (Mars, Norad, and WSC) using 'non-violent" methods.
Hints & Gameplay
If you find that you are unable to proceed in a time zone, you may not have an object in your inventory that is needed to continue. Some objects can be and will need to be taken from one time zone and used in another to help complete your mission and ensure your success.
There are two different ways to apprehend the final robots: In either a "violent" or "non-violent" manner. If you choose a violent means of apprehension, this can result in lost biochips that are needed later in the game.
If you are unable to complete a task due to load times, or missing inventory objects, you can set the game difficulty to "Walkthru", and use the AI biochip to solve the puzzle for you, if applicable. Note that using the "solve" option will only give you _ of the points possible for the puzzle.
If you come to an untimely demise, you will be presented with a menu of options, one of, which enables you to continue from your last safe spot in the game in order to achieve a different outcome. However, it is always recommended that you save your game frequently.
Remember that in most cases, once you obtain an object from a time zone, if you return to the time zone later on, the object will no longer be in its original location, since you will already have it in your inventory. This can be helpful when you need an object that was originally obtained by a series of actions.
You can use the Pegasus to recall you back to TSA at any time during a mission via the Pegasus biochip 'recall' button. Recalling in Pegasus brings your biosuit energy level back up to 100%.

Mars Colony
- What are my goals while I am in the Mars Colony?
- Main Goal: First stop the Aries robot from blowing up the Mars colony with the card bomb and then stop the robot from destroying the alien shuttle.
Acquire the crowbar in the tunnel pod compartment to use later in the reactor room.
Acquire air mask in oxygen room to use later in the maze.
Acquire shield biochip out of robot's head to use later at the WSC catwalk, Mars colony reactor room, and Caldoria rooftop.
Acquire Aries opmem biochip out of robot's head to learn info about Elliot Sinclair's intentions.
Acquire access card at reception desk to use in tunnel pod.
- What are the puzzles that I must 'solve' while I am in the Mars colony?
- Acquire access card at reception desk to use in tunnel pod.
You must step out of the robot's way in the Oxygen room.
You must go to Norad and fill the oxygen mask with oxygen before you can successfully complete the maze; also, you cannot breathe in the machine room without air in the oxygen mask. A full air mask contains 30 minutes of air time in the maze and machine room.
Need to use biochip while in reactor room or energy will drain faster.
You must access the color matching game in the reactor room by breaking the lock. To break the lock, nitrogen must be sprayed on the lock. The nitrogen will freeze the lock for 15 seconds, in which you must use the crowbar on the frozen lock.
You must solve the color matching game and retrieve the card bomb in 4 minutes.
You must exit the maze successfully.
You must stop the robot shuttle by lowering the power of the shuttle and then transporting into it.
If you take more than 10 minutes, the robot will destroy the alien shuttle. This constitutes as a non-completion of the zone; therefore you must stop the robot successfully before the zone is complete. The robot will try to destroy your ship by dropping space junk into the path of your shuttle, which will drain it of energy. If the robot succeeds, you will fail completion of the zone.
- What automatic solves are available while I am in the Mars Colony?
- Card bomb deactivation.
Stop robot during space chase.
- What will cause me to die while I am in the Mars Colony?
- If you are in the maze or machine room for 30 seconds without the oxygen mask with air on.
If you are in the maze and run into a robot and wait for more than 5 seconds, it will kill you.
If you biosuit energy drains to zero. You have 2 hours without any environmental factors. Your energy is drained 3x faster while in the reactor room if your shield biochip is activated. Your energy will drain 6x faster if you do NOT have the shield biochip activated.
The robot drops space junk during the space chase, which can drain your shuttle of energy.
The card bomb explodes if you do not disarm it in the allotted number of tries.
You exit onto the pod tracks.
Robot will kill you if you do not step out of its way by the oxygen room, within 15 seconds.
After the robot flies off in shuttle (deactivating the shuttle door override safeguards), then you can open the gantry doors and be sucked out into the Martian atmosphere.
World Science Center (WSC)
- What are my goals while I am in the WSC?
- Main Goal: Stop Mercury robot from shooting Enrique Castillo from the catwalk.
Acquire retinal biochip out of robot's head for use at Norad retinal door.
Acquire Mercury opmem biochip out of robot's head to learn info about Elliot Sinclair's intentions.
Acquire nitrogen canister from behind vmail monitor.
Acquire stun gun after successfully stopping the robot on the catwalk.
Acquire ID card after completing morph experiment.
Acquire argon canister after completing the morph experiment.
- What are the puzzles that I must 'solve' while I am in the WSC?
- Pull-out poison dart, analyze, synthesize, and take vial.
Sequence:
Poison dart: Choose "Yes" when asked if you want to take it out. If you choose "No" then you will lose your energy at a more rapid rate as long as the antidote isn't taken.
You cannot use Pegasus without taking the antidote, otherwise, you die.
Molecular synthesis game: 3 levels/molecules need to be created.
Find nitrogen can. Must fill it in Norad and then use it in Mars reactor room to break lock.
Find argon canister. Must fill it in Norad and then use it to stop robot morphing on catwalk.
Find ID card after completing morph experiment and use it to access Elliot Sinclair's office.
Robot fires plasma shots at you on the catwalk. If you have the shield biochip activated, the loss of energy is lessened. If you do not have the shield biochip active, the loss of energy is high.
You must avoid all personnel.
Use vmail to learn more about scientists.
Use computer to access Sinclair's scientific logs.
Must go long way around to confront robot on catwalk.
If you open the door to the catwalk, you have 10 seconds to exit inside or turn away before the robot shoots Enrique Castillo and then you.
You can stop the robot if you do one of two things within 13 seconds.: touch the electrical wire, which will electrocute the robot, ending in a violent death (no Ghandi points) or use the Argon when the robot starts the morphing process (non-violent death).
Acquire biochips.
- What automatic solves are available while I am in the WSC?
- During the compound synthesizer/molecule game.
During the robot confrontation.
- What will cause me to die while I am in the WSC?
- If you biosuit energy drains to zero. You have 2 hours without any environmental factors, however your energy is drained faster due to the poison dart and plasma blasts on the catwalk. (10% drain with shield biochip activated, 20% drain without it activated).
If you run into any personnel.
If you choose "No" when asked to remove the dart.
If the robot shoots you after 10 seconds of indecision.
If the robot shoots you after 13 seconds of indecision.
If you take the assault rifle off the wall in office.
Norad Alpha & Delta
- What are my goals while I am in Norad?
- Main Goal: Stop Poseidon robot from launching missile at Gorbestan.
Acquire shield biochip out of robot's head for use at WSC catwalk, Mars reactor room, and Caldoria rooftop.
Acquire Poseidon opmem biochip out of robot's head to learn info about Elliot Sinclair's intentions.
Acquire oxygen gas at gas filling station. (Must have oxygen mask picked up in Mars oxygen room.)
Acquire argon gas at gas filling station. (Must have argon canister picked up in WSC lab.)
Acquire nitrogen gas at gas filling station. (Must have nitrogen canister picked up in WSC lab.)
- What are the puzzles that I must 'solve' while I am in Norad?
- You have 75 seconds to put on an oxygen mask (just needs the filter on, not oxygen), or take the poison gas canister off the gas head before you pass out.
If you take the poison gas canister off the gas head, you must put it back on and press the "intake" button in order to explore Norad. Failure to put the canister back on, or to press the button will lead to your capture.
If you take off the poison gas canister off the gas head and do not replace it, you cannot use Pegasus.
You must lower the pressure at the pressure doors to enter the sub rooms.
Activate the launch prep in the sub control room before the sub can be used.
You must use the sub to access the Delta sector of Norad and complete the time zone.
Learn sub control room computer interface and usage of sub arm before robot confrontation in Delta sector.
Must have retinal biochip activated before retinal scan at the globe room door.
Missile deactivation game in globe room. Failure to deactivate all missiles will result in an incomplete mission. You must replay the mission or open a saved game and restart from a saved point in the mission.
You must stop the robot from the sub control room to complete the mission:
If you try to open the door, you will zoom to the pressure controls, which will enable you to pressurize the robot at the highest pressure point, however this leads to a violent capture and no Gandhi points.
If you sit down in the sub control room, the sub arm needs to grab the robot to stop him. (non-violent)
- What automatic solves are available while I am in Norad?
- In the environment control room, you are given the oxygen mask.
At the pressure doors, the pressure is equalized.
During robot confrontations, stops robot and zooms you to the robot's head to extract biochips.
At retinal scan door, you are given the retinal scan biochip.
At globe monitor, the globe game is completed successfully.
- What will cause me to die while I am in Norad?
- If energy drains to zero. (You have 2 hours without any environmental factors)
You will be captured if you do the following:
If you take off the poison gas canister and do not replace it and then try to exit.
If you take off the poison gas canister and put it back on, but do not press the monitor's "intake" button and then try to exit.
You have 75 seconds to put on an air mask (with the filter on, or oxygen although it is not necessary to have the oxygen in Norad) before you become gassed. If you turn on the air mask filter after time has elapsed, then turn the filter off again, the timer will be reset to 75 seconds.
At robot confrontation at the pressure door, you must raise the pressure to its highest level before the robot punches the door 5 times, or else you die.
During the robot confrontation at the sub control monitor, the robot will keep punching through the window until you make a mistake and then it will kill you.
If you fail to deactivate all missiles at the globe game, you will have an incomplete mission. You must replay the mission or open a saved game and restart at a saved point in the mission.
