FINDING THE NECKLACE |
|
|
CARGO HOLD (B DECK) |
On the way out the Sailor tells you that a young German gentleman
(Haderlitz) was there before you looking for a painting. If you only
found an empty frame you'll know that Haderlitz took the painting. |
|
|
C DECK GRAND STAIRCASE |
You should find Smethells here. He tells you that Haderlitz wants
to meet you in the Squash Court. Before you go meet Haderlitz there
are a few things to be done out on the deck. |
|
|
BOAT DECK - PORT |
Head towards the aft end until you meet Penny Pringle on the 1st
Class Promenade. She tells you about Zeitel and Barbicon having a
conversation and that you should try listen to what they're saying.
You'll find them at the aft end of the ship, but Zeitel tells you
their conversation is private and asks you to leave. |
|
|
A DECK - STARBOARD |
From the Aft Grand Staircase exit on the starboard side and head
aft (right). You again meet Georgia and she'll tell you her husband's
estate is to be sold off. She asks you to come to her Cabin (B70) when
Charles is in the Smoking Room. When Georgia leaves you see Zeitel and
Barbicon above
you on the Boat Deck. Stand directly below them and you'll be able to
eavesdrop on their conversation. |
|
|
|
|
PURSER'S OFFICE (C DECK) |
You again have to ask the lift attendant for directions to the
Squash Court using the following dialog topics:
• I need directions. Can you help?
• More locations... (repeatedly till the one below appears)
• The squash court?
Follow his directions to the Squash Court. |
|
|
SQUASH COURT (D DECK) |
There's no real skill involved in fencing against Haderlitz. Just
keep clicking on his stomach area and eventually you'll beat him.
After winning twice he gives you a ring as a token of friendship
and says you'll know what to do if something happens to him. |
|
|
|
|
MEET THE GORSE-JONESES |
This should happen on your way back to C Deck Grand Staircase.
Again it's a random meeting and may occur earlier or later. They tell
you that Trask wants you to meet him where 'Honour and Glory crown
Time'. Have you seen anything that fits this description? The
panelling surrounding the clock in the Boat Deck Grand Staircase
depicts two angels (Honour and Glory) - i.e. 'crowning time'. |
|
|
BOAT DECK - GRAND STAIRCASE |
The clock
in the Boat Deck Grand Staircase shows two angels (Honour and
Glory) crowning it (time). Speak to Trask using the following
dialog topics:
• I would like you to do a reading of something... (then select the
ring from your bag)
• Would you do a reading of this ring
Trask has a premonition of Haderlitz being electrocuted in the
Electric Bath. He also says you should show the ring to a pretty
girl whom Haderlitz knows as she can help you. |
|
|
GEORGIA'S CABIN (B DECK - B70) |
Georgia tells you about her affair with Sasha and again asks for
your help. Her husband, Lord Charles Lambert, arrives back from the
Smoking Room and you leave. |
|
|
B DECK AFT GRAND STAIRCASE |
Talk to Daisy Cashmore and she'll ask you to find out who a man
with the initials G-Q-C is. I suggest selecting the "Could we get to
the point?" topic when speaking to her as she can be a real
chatterbox! |
|
|
PURSER'S OFFICE (C DECK) |
Speak to the Purser using the following dialog topics:
• I require assistance...
• May I check the passenger list?
• More names... (until you find the one you're looking for)
• A passenger with the initials G-Q-C
The Purser tells you it's a Mr.George Quincy Clifford |
|
|
B DECK AFT GRAND STAIRCASE |
Tell Daisy Cashmore that the man's name is George Quincy Clifford.
In return for this information she gives you a message from Andrew Conklin,
asking you to meet him in Scotland Road. |
|
|
PURSER'S OFFICE (C DECK) |
Ask the lift attendant for directions to Scotland Road using the
following dialog topics:
• I need directions. Can you help?
• More locations... (repeatedly till the one below appears)
• The Scotland Road?
Then ask him to:
• Take me to D Deck Reception
He'll talk about Haderlitz having a sweetheart in Cabin D19. |
|
|
D DECK 1ST CLASS RECEPTION |
Follow the lift attendant's directions to Scotland Road. Along the
way you meet Max Seidlemann in D Deck 1st Class Reception. Talk to him
and he tells you Claris Limehouse is in a Cabin on D Deck. |
|
|
SCOTLAND ROAD (E DECK) |
Enter Scotland Road (Fore) and head towards the front of the ship
(to your right). At the very end of the corridor you'll meet the
Reverend Troutt. He talks about Haderlitz visiting an un-chaperoned
young lady in the 3rd Class Cabins on F Deck. When he asks for a
donation say "Yes, let's talk about it later." Note that the
stairs down to the Third Class Cabins on F Deck are here. |
|
Turn around
and now go to the other end of the corridor. Enter Scotland Road Aft
through the door and continue toward the rear of the ship until you
meet Andrew Conklin. He tells you about their maid, Shailagh Hacker,
who stole a letter when she left their employ. He's arranged a meeting
with her on the Poop Deck and he wants you to go in his place and
recover the letter. He tells you that he's in Cabin B59. |
|
You'll note from the map that Scotland Road Aft continues all the
way to the 2nd Class Stairs through the door where you met Conklin.
You see a rope and axe hanging on the right-hand wall about halfway
down the corridor in this part of Scotland Road Aft. Remember this for
later! |
|
|
|
|
POOP DECK (B DECK) |
You find Shailagh Hacker and her brother Jack at the aft end of
the Poop Deck. They want $5.000 from Andrew Conklin in exchange for
the letter. They tell you to get the money and meet them later. |
|
|
ANDREW CONKLIN'S CABIN (B DECK - B59) |
When you tell Andrew Conklin about Shailagh Hacker's demand he
asks you to talk to her privately without her brother. He tells you
she's in Third Class Cabin F59. |
|
|
SHAILAGH HACKER'S CABIN (F DECK - F59) |
The stairs leading down to the Third Class Cabins are in Scotland
Road Fore (where you met Reverend Troutt). Shailagh Hacker tells you
that Conklin is the father of her baby and that Mrs. Conklin intended
to take it as she couldn't have children of her own. You also learn
that the letter is proof of Conklin manufacturing inferior steel. |
|
|
SMOKING ROOM (A DECK) |
You'll find Charles Lambeth in the Smoking Room. He tells you
about his financial problems and that Georgia's necklace is a fake.
He's given the real necklace to Sasha Barbicon to sell for him. Take
note that Charles won't talk about the necklace unless you've visited
Georgia in her Cabin! |
|
|
SASHA BARBICON'S CABIN (A DECK - A14) |
There's a Sailor at the end of the corridor outside Sasha
Barbicon's Cabin. Speak to him and he tells you about a problem with
the lights and that he's going to fetch a screwdriver. When he goes
you see the fuse box on the wall. Open the fuse box and turn off Cabin
A14's power by moving the lever across to the left. if you turn around
you'll see Barbicon exit his Cabin to go report that he hasn't got
power. Then turn the power on again and enter his Cabin. |
|
The real
necklace is inside the doll on the dresser. You'll have to open the
doll to get the necklace. The locking mechanism has five rings. The
outer ring has four numbers on it and each of the inner rings has
eight numbers. You can turn the four inner rings and they must be
lined up so that their numbers add up the the number on the outer
ring. |
|
|
|
After solving the locking mechanism puzzle open the doll and remove
the real necklace. You must also put the fake necklace in it's place
(inside the doll) or Barbicon will notice that the real one missing! |
