PURSER'S OFFICE (C DECK) |
The Purser mutters the name 'Thayer' when he opens the window.
Talk to him using the following dialog topics:
• What about Mr. Thayer?
• Could I help?
He gives you Mr. Thayer's telegram to send for him. Check the Rubaiyat
in for safekeeping. The cargo manifest is on the counter but the
Purser won't let you look at it. Also take note of the keys
on the key rack behind him. |

| Read the instructions (in the desk drawer) to learn how to send
Mr. Thayer's telegram. |

| After sending Mr. Thayer's telegram check the right spike again to
find a second telegram sent by Zeitel. |

| |

YOUR CABIN (C DECK - C73) |
| Decode Zeitel's second telegram
with the cryptograph. |

The second message reads:
...Something wrong. SB says
Rubaiyat missing. Have sent
my man after painting anyway...
Zeitel... |

PURSER'S OFFICE (C DECK) |
Tell the Purser that you've sent the telegram by selecting the
following dialog topics:
• I sent Mr. Thayer's telegram
• Shall I tell the Thayers?
He'll want to personally tell the Thayers that the telegram was sent.
When he leaves, check the cargo manifest and you'll find an entry
for the painting. |

LIFT ATTENDANT (C DECK - GRAND STAIRCASE) |
Although the Cargo Hold is visible on G Deck on the map, you
cannot access it directly. You again have to ask the lift attendant
for directions. Select the following dialog topics when talking to
him:
• I need directions. Can you help?
• More locations... (repeatedly till the one below appears)
• The cargo room? |

CARGO HOLD (B DECK) |
| The Sailor tells you the Carters have their automobile in the
cargo hold, but that only people who have the keys are allowed into the
storage area. Do you remember seeing the keys somewhere? |

PURSER'S OFFICE (C DECK) |
Speak to the Purser again, selecting the following dialog topics:
• Could I borrow some car keys? (He tells you that Isidor Strauss has
lost a cuff link)
• Can I find the cufflink for you?
Do you remember the Gorse-Joneses telling you they met Mr. and
Mrs.Strauss in D Deck Reception? |

D DECK 1ST CLASS RECEPTION |
| Speak to Max Seidlemann and he'll tell you that he saw the
Strausses sitting at the foot of the stairs. Examine the chair on the
left to find the cufflink. |

PURSER'S OFFICE (C DECK) |
| Tell the Purser that you've found the cufflink. When he leaves to
return it to Mr. Strauss you can take the keys. |

CARGO HOLD (B DECK) |
| The Sailor sees that you've got the keys and allows you into the
storage area. Take note of his comment about it being dark, this is a
clue to what you must do. Go to the second cage
on the right after the first passageway. Both the automobile and the
'Lamke & Buechner' crate are inside. You won't be able to open
the crate because it's too dark in the cage. Did you notice the
car's headlights? If you turn them on the beam will shine directly
on the crate and you can then open it. |

| You'll find either the painting or else just the empty frame. It
all depends on how long you took to find the crate. If the painting is
there take it. If it's not there, don't panic - you get another
opportunity later in the game. |
