The intel you captured from that Mobile HQ says that the Bandit Leader is Chung Vung, a House Liao commander, or ex-commander, depending on whom you believe. You're ordered to pursue a second supply convoy, close to the river border of Liao territory, which seems to upset Miss Yee. Zeus heavy mechs become available. Since you obtained Pulse Laser tech in the last mission, you might want to configure a mech to use these powerful weapons.

If you head straight North, you'll be running uphill into a mass of LRMs and Centipedes. You can... but you can also circle around to the West a bit, running behind the ridges until you find their abandoned camp. From West of this position, you can get up on the ridges, which is where you want to be in this scenario. There are several groupings of Fire Ants, Centipedes and LRMs perched on the ridges between you and Objective #1 so get up high quickly and engage the groups, moving steadily North until you are across from the camp where your Op Point is and the Bandit Convoy is waiting.

Take the High Road, laddie!

When you begin to assault the camp, half of the Convoy will take off, down the road to the Liao border. A couple of Ants and Centipedes will make a token standoff to cover for them, along with some irritating Infantry mites. Engage these forces and let the trucks go. They aren't your prime target anyway... but grab that Resource Building.

The House Liao border

When you hit your Op Point, Liao Ops will radio a warning that you are violating their space (how rude!). Lt. Diaz will argue with them, but Liao will maintain that they have no knowledge of bandits in the area and that you should just toodleoo. Then Colonel Renard will come on the horn and order you to pursue, and also to take a swat at Liao for their impertinence by grabbing their Weapon Facility to the Northwest. Don't go across the river til Renard orders you to.

Several Urbans will chase you from the checkpoint; deal with them sternly. You can even jump the gates and capture the turrets (always good for cheap laughs) but keep an eye out for a pair of Sha Yu. These Liao mechs have ECM, run fast (112kph) and carry autocannons. The Sha patrol the river in the shallows to the north of the checkpoint, and may be on either side of the river. These are your prizes so watch for them carefully!

Everybody Wang Chung tonight!

If you get the Sha Yu first, taking the other side of the bridge is easy; just a handful of pitifully inadequate Centipedes. Mow them down. Then head Southwest; a small island at the tip there offers another Resource Building (and several Centipedes). Keep heading West until you find the Factory grounds, which holds another Sha Yu, an Anubis (a very fast Liao mech - 130kph) and several LRMs and Centipedes who will assault you.

North of this point is the Weapons Facility, high on a hilltop. The installation itself is guarded by another Anubis, which should be no problem for your fighting force, especially if you salvaged the other Anubis already to grab the lower turret controls. When you capture the Facility, you'll gain Gauss Rifle technology; you'll also be assaulted by a wave of 6 Attack Choppers coming from the Northeast. The pockets at the bottom of the hill are a good defensive position. Concentrate fire on one unit at a time.

Attack Choppers are persistent

From this hilltop, between you and Extract is a small storage area with another Anubis... and lots of flammable ammo piles :) Shoot the ammo and send Mr Anubis to Mousy Fricassee Heaven. You'll also run into the spawn of the Devil - Powered Armor. When you hear Sensors pinging but can't see anything on the scope, look closely. These tiny, hard to see mites look like Infantry but pack a mean punch, and a swarm of them can seriously harass you and damage already-weakened mechs. So take them out quickly and then proceed to Extract, humming merrily over your day's profit.

The sneaky Powered Armor

[Always purchase as many salvaged mechs in the afterscreen as you can; though it's your C-bills rather than your employer's you are spending, you still turn a 10-30% profit by reselling salvaged mechs you don't want]

Now you have a truly strong force with which to wreak havok. Sha Yu are quite fast and have the same Intermediate Sensor capabilities as the Razorbacks, so configure your three captured Sha Yu and use them in place of your Razorbacks. If you were fortunate, you'll also have an Anubis or two, which make excellent Scout mechs.
