Night Ops: Liao Raid Weight: 220 - RUs: 7000 |
|
Col. Renard magnanimously grants you the weapons you captured, then sends you after his spy, held captive in a Liao prison. He urges a little ultra-violence, max collateral, making Miss Yee feeling... violated, poor thing. More mechwarriors join your team.

Head off North by Northwest towards Objective 1 and indulge your penchant for large, colorful explosions at night by taking out a few Fuel Tanks, stirring up a hornet's nest of Partisans, LRM carriers and a couple Anubii. Wheee! As usual, target the massed LRMs quickly.
'Tis better to strike one small fuel tank, than to curse the darkness...Grab the Weapons Facility, gaining ER technology. Yum! If there are any fuel tanks remaining, blow them up. Why? Because; huge fiery explosions at night look really kewl!!!
Head North again until you come to the road; to the East is a small landing strip guarded by 'Pedes and Partisans. To the West is the bridge. Do you run into the teeth of the chugging autocannon turrets that guard the bridge? You do not. Instead, chew up the crawlies and slip down to the river, where several amenable places to cross may be found. Take one, and head Northwest towards Secondary Objective A.
[This is a good time to drill this into your head: ALWAYS COMPLETE SECONDARIES! If you pass them by, you are passing away a fortune for convenience; in in most missions, the Secondary Objectives pay 2-3x as much as the main Objectives! Of course, they offer more opposition... but that means more smokin' carcasses to cash in on! Does a budding Merc Commander need more reason? She does not]

Be careful with that truck, Eugene...The Fuel Station at SecObA has a compliment of Sha Yu and a combination of crawlies. Just don't blow away the two Resource Trucks sitting on the tarmac, which is easy to do, especially with so many incendiary objects around. You need these Trucks; there are few resources in the mission.
South and a bit West of the Fuel Station is your next crucial target, as there is a Repair Bay there, which you are probably sorely needing by now. A finicky Anubis tries to bar your passage. Brush him aside as if he were a matchstick and capture the Bay. Then have everyone heal up and take a breath for the next, and toughest, objective in this mission. (now might be a good time for a Quick Save too)
Rush the hill and grab those controlsYou need the turrets sitting on top of the plateau so take them. You may get chewed up in the process. Just issue a Run command towards the controls and when any mech gets even near jump range, jump them towards the controls. You'll have to take out the LRM carrier guarding the controls to assume ownership, but once you have it, the LRM turrets will swiftly dispose of the crawlies coming for you. Once things are quiet, send the severly-damaged mechs back to the relatively close Repair Bay if you must.
[Or if this is not your style or your team is too battle-chewed, you could sneak back South and East to the bridge, taking out the land units there and grabbing turret control, then South. At the river's edge is the generator that feeds power to the Complex's turrets. A bonus is that the last Resource Truck sits next to the generator]
Either way, those turrets have to be owned; they are on your way to your Extract zone.
Steel waits for you in this Liao prisonA couple Sha Yu and a Fire Ant guard the Prison, and may be either inside or outside the walls of the complex. They are accompanied by several varieties of tanks and ground units. Have fun!
Once you gain control, capture the Prison and you'll hear a vidcom transmission from a MechWarrior, Steel, who becomes part of your team. You'll also hear "Mech powerup detected" so be ready to fight your way out of there. But it's only an Anubis, so annihilate him. Then take your team home.
