DEPLOYMENT TEAM
|
You might think about swapping out all your lasers of all types for Clan models at this time. You'll have to give up more room to heat sinks but the increase in power and range will be a great trade-off.
On Drop, run your main team due West to the shore and find the islands that lead West. Hop them and take out the choppers and ground-crawlers that guard the SouthWest Base and take it, including the two Resource Buildings there.
Head for the islands, monMeanwhile, send the Anubis due East to capture the Resource Building there. Beware the horde of Powered Armor guarding this building; rather than get involved, lure them away and capture the building, then outrun them back to the South islands and rejoin your team. Don't worry about them catching up, but stay on the road and don't go up on the hill North of the road, because if you do, you'll stir up the two Ullers that guard the hilltop; you'll get to them later. Also, send another fast mech North to grab the Resource Building in the city and then have it rejoin your team.
The NorthWest Base is where to take your standNow you are all together at the Southwest Base and you have 40000 RPs. Excellent. Run North. The base there is ringed by LRMs, lots of them, and a Wolfhound and a Jagermech guard the controls. Lure them far enough away to capture the controls and let those LRMs help you dispose of them. This Northwest base is an excellent place to dig in, repair, and wait for the coming convoys, so grab the Resource Building and send for a Repair Truck if you need one.
I like to waste precious RPs here building a minefield inbetween the buildings to discourage rushes towards the turret controls; this is one mission you actually have time to do that. You may be interrupted by the various Centipedes, Hunters, Troop Transports and Attack Choppers trickling in; just laze them and let the minelayer work. There's a small ring of stones just behind the Resource Building that makes a good spot to take your stand.
All through the day...
I, me, mine; I, me, mine; I, me, mineThe first Convoy element comes; more crawlies and two Wolfhounds. They shouldn't be any problem with your team in position. They'll try over and over to reach the turret controls, reaching your mines instead.
The Second wave should be no problem either, even with its' 4 Enfields. Just keep a tight formation in front of the turrets, behind the Resource Building and in back of your minefield and concentrate fire on one opponent at a time. The buildings will help shield you from the Enflieds' guns.
[ You also don't have to lay mines; if you don't, then the place to take your stand is close to the narrow neck that passes around the edge of the base wall. You can force enemies to come at you one-by-one down this narrow bridge, although they may take the turret controls if you do that.]
When you've lost the turrets, use the wallThe Third wave is a problem: a couple Partisans and 4 Jagermechs. You're probably going to lose the turrets; the Jags will target the generators with their long guns. They will also be able to shoot at you from the edge of the minefield with their range. So do your best; try jumping your mechs around to lure the Jags into the minefield, or to get close enough to pound them with short-range weaponry, where you will have the advantage. Watch out for your own mines!
When the dust-up is over, if you've lost the turrets, fall back to just behind the wall, with a good view of that narrow neck that passes conveniently close... place one mech Northwest at the edge of the water as a decoy. Depending on how beat up you are, you may wish to call for Repair, unless you have enough left in the first truck to patch up. But try to save those RPs. If you haven't lost the turrets, use them to your advantage, of course :)
The Fourth and last wave will come; a number of Hunters with their nasty LRMs, some Centipedes and your prize: a Vulture. This wave should be the easiest of all, using the wall, your mines and your positioning to take this bad boy out easily. When you are done, you'll have all your objectives accomplished except Extract.
I never seen a man eat so many chicken wings!Head East and you'll find something; two Ullers with Clan weaponry. Usually they live in a cluster of rocks atop the Northern plateau near the Extract Zone, but if you awakened them before with all your road-running, they'll be waiting for you down in the city West of the Extract Zone at the foot of that plateau. No matter where you encounter them on your way out, they should be no match for your team now.
So proceed to Extract, watching for those Ullers, bag them, and congratulate yourself on a mission well-done.
